Alex and I packed up the kids and took a mini-vacation to Horseshoe Bay Resort last weekend! We were invited by the resort to check out their holiday features and events, and we were blown away!
Check out this slice of heaven less than an hour from Austin and all they have to offer this holiday season for you and your family!
We arrived Saturday morning and thanks to the Texas weather brought our swimsuits! Horseshoe Bay Resort has a large heated pool, 82 degrees, and multiple hot tubs which we took full advantage of. In total they have 4 pools, the largest hot tub in Texas, and beach access directly to Lake LBJ.
We stayed in the Palm Villas which had 1 bedroom and a large living room area with a pull out couch. They also offer two and three bedroom suites. We hauled both pack n' plays but Whitney ended up sleeping with me, and Walt slept in his in the bedroom with Turner and Alex. Our villa was near all the amenities, which was my favorite detail because I didn't have to pack up the car EVER!
A few amenities we loved included the beautiful 18 hole putting course, tortoise and bird show, tennis courts (14 adult courts and 3 Andy Roddick kids' courts), and let's not forget the Jungle Kid's Club! Doesn't hurt I could grab a cocktail and walk around with it while my kids played. They have 5 a la carte restaurants and lounges and fire pits around the resort where you can relax and chat. If you're an avid golfer they have 4 beautiful courses.
On Saturday evening we walked to the lawn for complimentary s'mores which was a treat for all of us! They host these every Friday and Saturday night from 6pm-7:30pm.
After we roasted s'mores we headed to the legendary Walkway of Lights which is in downtown Marble Falls (10 minutes from the resort). The resort offers a complimentary shuttle to and from the event!
December 14-15 they are hosting an amazing Winter Wonderland event for the whole family! On Friday night the Austin Chamber Music Center will play a live concert of all your favorite tunes with the original Charlie Brown music of Vince Guaraldi featuring pianist Michelle Schumann, bassist Utal Hamrick and drummer David Sierra. The Dinner Buffet will be at 7pm and the show will begin at 8pm in the hotel ballroom. Plus, there will be a chance to meet Snoopy in the lobby! My kids and I loved seeing the holiday decorations and giant Gingerbread Castle created by their Executive Pastry Chef, Joey Norombaba.
Winter Wonderland continues Saturday with a Winter Market and outdoor activities including Horse-Drawn carriage rides, photos with Santa, Letters to Santa, a holiday laser light show and a performance by Vocalibre (Texas State's A Capella group) from 4pm-10pm. The Holiday Shopping Market will include Kendra Scott, Raven + Lily, Colores Collective and more!
My mom and I took a trip here last summer and I've been dreaming of bringing my kids ever since! It's a great place for a couples getaway, girls weekend and family vacation. If you're looking for a holiday tradition add Horseshoe Bay Resort's Winter Wonderland to your list and create some magical moments with your family. Seeing my children' faces light up with each new adventure was priceless.
