This year I've scaled back when it comes to decorating for Christmas. I decided to keep it simple when it came to our mantel and went with a black, white, red and green Scandinavian theme. Check out details about my inspiration and why I kept it simple!

I love this time of year, but life is crazy with the twins, my new job and a ski trip we're preparing for. As much as I love to decorate, I told myself to not go crazy and stress myself out with decor.  I think I will be the most excited when it comes to the days after Christmas when I don't have to spend hours taking down and putting away decor.

Even though I didn't go all out, I love how my Scandinavian themed mantel turned out!  At Home has thousands of holiday decorations and even has decor themes depending on your style. The modern Seasonal Slate theme caught my attention which includes black, white and natural wood decorations. In the past I've had a wreath in the middle of the mirror, but this year I made a simple DIY garland using black scrapbook paper, free tree print out I found online here, a hole punch, and white yarn...super easy! As a final touch I added fresh berries to my vase which will last all month.
