May Small Goals

Writing out monthly small goals has been a GAME CHANGER. As the end of the month approaches, I have this internet to keep my accountable and it's working! I like mixing up a few challenging big and scary goals with a few fun and simple goals that I'm looking forward to accomplishing.

Check out what I did and didn't accomplish in April and what I'm working on for May!

APRIL GOALS:

1.) PITCH A DREAM BRAND
Didn't happen. I have a brand in mind, but I haven't pitched them because there is a form I need to fill out and it is LONG! It's a home decor project, and I have to have plans, a mood board and lots of additional info. I haven't made the time for it, but hopefully will by the end of the summer.

2.)  FINISH WRITING ABOUT MY DAD
This sucked but I did it. I used to write in a journal every few days since I was in high school, but over the years I've stopped. Blogging really is my journal, but it's much less intimate. I'm thinking I should go back to journaling for deeper and personal conversations I need to have with myself, God and my Dad. Some things need to be private.

3.) FIGURE OUT PINTEREST
Eh, I did sign up for a trial session of TailWind and scheduled some pins for a week or so, but I didn't dive in to learning how group boards work. I know I still need to learn, but it's not how I want to spend my free time right now. Plain and simple.

4.) SIDE HUSTLE / EXTRA INCOME
I've had a few opportunities come up with hosting events in Austin that will pay me for my planning/hosting so I'm super excited!

5.) GET A HAIRCUT
Definitely my most achievable goal. I put this one in here just in case I didn't reach any other goal. Although by mid-month I realized I hadn't booked an appointment, and knew that if I wanted to cross this off my list I would need to book it ASAP with my stylist. Once again, writing down my goals saves the day! Over the past two years, I've gotten my haircut on Sunday afternoons. I get highlights and a cut which usually takes 2 1/2 hours.

MAY GOALS:

1.) SHOOT A HOME DECOR POST
I miss styling home decor shoots. Last year I was a contributor for At Home and produced 1-2 blog posts per month for them, and I thoroughly enjoyed planning styled shoots and home decor projects. I miss a good project, so I'm thinking about diving in to a small DIY project. I would LOVE to add shiplap to my living room wall, but I'm going to be realistic and say there is no way that's getting done in May. We have something going on every weekend.

2.) KEEP UP THE EXERCISE
I've been loving PureBarre, and want to take more spin classes in May. My goal is to continue working out 2-3 times per week whether that's doing something at home or going to a class. I want to feel strong and confident while living in a bikini for 4 days in Mexico.

3.) LEARN HOW TO USE MY NEW CAMERA
Alex and I caved and bought a new camera. I was getting collaborations with brands, and my iPhone photos weren't cutting it anymore. We purchased a DSLR in 2010 when we got married, and I only shot in automatic mode for 5 years. Alex is much more in to tech and figuring out how to shoot manually, but I really want to learn so I can shoot things on my own. I would love to take one of Chelsea's Lightroom + Intro to Photography classes at The Paper + Craft Pantry.

4.) MAKE MORE YOUTUBE VIDEOS
My YouTube channel has been growing recently due to my Twin Birth Story video taking off. I'm gaining subscribers, but not adding much content. My goal is to post one new video each week! Any topic ideas? I'm all over the board with things I want to talk about. What would you like to see?

5.) PARTY MY BUTT OFF IN MEXICO WITH ALEX!
This is my most exciting goal, and I doubt it will be very hard to accomplish ; ). Alex and I are traveling to Playa Del Carmen for 5 days/4 nights at the end of May and I am counting down the days! We usually take a big trip together once a year and fly somewhere sans kids, and this year we'll be celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary. It was way too hard to travel for that length of time the first year of Walt and Whitney's life (we wouldn't do that to our families), and now we're comfortable with leaving them for more than a day or two. My goal is to shut off my email, not think about work, and enjoy one on one time with Alex. Have a conversation without being interrupted a million times, go to the bathroom in peace, and maybe even read a book (not making promises)!

Do you have any small goals for May?! Try setting a few and see what you think. I promise they help! If you do, you should link up your post with Nicole here.
