September Small Goals

August flew by, and I'm OK with that. It was not my favorite month. I wasn't very social, and I didn't work out AT ALL. Most nights my kids were so fussy I knew I needed to be at home with them, and Whitney decided her new wake up time is 5am. It completely drained me. I'm ready to start fresh with a new month and it's one month closer to OCTOBER!

See what August goals I completed and what I have planned for September!

AUGUST GOALS

1.) READ A MARKETING ARTICLE 2-3 X A WEEK
Every morning I received an email from Marketing Profs with the top marketing articles and I would read at least one article from there. I enjoyed learning more and more about different areas of marketing that I can use for my day job and blog. I enjoyed learning more about video content and Facebook Watch!

2.) GRAB LUNCH WITH SOMEONE WHO INSPIRES ME
I had lunch this month with my friend Anna who I met years ago at Jess Lively's Austin goodbye party. We've stayed in touch through Instagram, but found out recently we work right next door to each other so we met up for lunch. She has a passion for PR and being a working mom.

3.) RELAX ON VACATION
Alex, Turner and I had an absolute blast on our vacation to Mo-Ranch with our neighbors last month! My in-laws watched Walt and Whitney and it was a complete game changer. We were able to relax and fully enjoy our time together. There was no cell phone service for 3 day trip which was nice to completely unplug. We made a fun YouTube video all about our trip!

4.) START PLANNING FOR THE FALL
I reached out to a few brands about fall/winter collaborations but only a couple were successful. I did plan out Walt and Whitney's Halloween costumes (ALL 3 OF THEM) and am collaborating with a few businesses so I'm excited for that! Who else loves Halloween?! I did bite off more than I can chew because how in the world am I going to get Walt and Whitney to sit still for three costume photos. Any tips?

5.) PRACTICE SHOOTING INDOORS
I can't really say I fully accomplished this goal, because I only shot inside once with my new flash. My goal is to try shooting with my tripod inside rather than using a flash, but I haven't had the time to even do that because I rarely have a spare minute on the weekend. P.S. the camera I have is a Canon 80D.

SEPTEMBER GOALS

1. GET ALLERGY TESTED
Last year I was sick all winter thanks to allergies. Three kids in daycare didn't help either, but my doctor told me I need to get ahead of it early this year. I've been thinking about allergy shots vs. over the counter allergy medicine. Have you ever had allergy shots? What's your opinion/experience?

2. PLAN TURNER'S 5TH BIRTHDAY PARTY
I love birthday parties, and I can't wait to celebrate my first born's 5th birthday! When I asked him where he wanted to have his party this year he said "CHUCK E' CHEESE!" For his 3rd birthday we had a very low key party on a week night at Chuck E' Cheese's with our neighbors and he still talks about it. Simple and affordable. I try not to go overboard, but the party planning side of me enjoys it. When I ask him what decorations he wants he goes back and forth between motorcycles and sports.

3. FINISH "THE SHACK"
I'm halfway through the book The Shack, and have not been able to find the desire to finish it. I almost completely gave up on it, but my sister said to push on and said the end was worth it. So, my goal is to finish it by the end of September.

4. PLAN A WOMEN'S EVENT
I'm excited to start planning a fun women's event for a local business I'm collaborating with (details to come)! I will be busy reaching out to local vendors for food, drinks and giveaways. Did I mention I enjoy party planning?

5. SAY NO
I hit a point in August where I became completely overwhelmed with everything going on in life. My goal for September is to pull back on the events and collaborations I participate in. My priorities are family, career, fitness and blogging comes last. Walt and Whitney are at a very demanding and fussy stage, and Turner constantly wants me to play with him. I need to be at home as much as I can. There is always an event going on in Austin that I could attend, but I'm going to have to be VERY selective with what I choose to go to. The few nights I do leave the house I would like to be working out.

There you have it! What are some small goals you have for September?
