Alex and I purchased our home over four years ago, and we've slowly been updating it room by room. Most of our home is overrun by toys, so I try my best to keep our bedroom toy free. I want it to be a relaxing place for Alex and I to escape even if our kids wake us up multiple times a night.
As you can tell I might have been slightly excited to get rid of our old tan carpet. When it came to choosing the color, I went back and forth for days between a light tan and gray! I did what every blogger would do and polled Instagram, and gray won (Moonrock). I was worried how it would look with my light gray walls and white trim, but I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. My home feels fresh and cozy.
Installation is 50% faster than traditional carpet, and Air.o's tension free construction means it will lay flat as soon as it's unrolled in your home. The Landers Premier Flooring team in Austin did an amazing job installing, and because Air.o is VOC, latex and odor free there was absolutely no new floor smell!
There's a lot to love about Air.o soft flooring including how easy it is to clean. The unique, unified construction allows for better airflow, which releases more dust and dirt with each vacuum than carpet with traditional padding.
It's also great that it's hypoallergenic. Mold, mildew and other allergens require moisture to grow and spread. Air.o dries faster and more completely after spills, so it's ideal for people with allergies.
Plus, Air.o is 100% recyclable (an industry game changer)! It's so nice to know we can get new flooring and all the trimmed pieces won't end up in the landfill.
According to the EPA, families spend 90% of their time indoors. Our family of five spends so much time on the floor. We dance, wrestle, read books, cuddle, play with toys, watch movies and so much more. Our new flooring is perfect for our family, and I look forward to the many memories we will create in our home. After installation, Walt and Whitney kept giggling as they walked on it because it was so soft.
When it came to updating my master bedroom I didn't have a ton of money or time to spend, but I found a few affordable ways to make a big difference in the overall look. Here are the updates I made.
- Add curtains
- Change out lampshades
- Add upholstered trunk/bench
- Add frames above night stands
- Add tall mirror (hello fashion blogger)
- Change out duvet cover
During my purchases Alex had no idea what I was planning, and as he installed our curtains he might have moaned and groaned. Although, I can say that after our flooring was installed and our room was complete he said he felt like he was in a luxury hotel room. It's my new favorite room, and I feel so much peace when I'm in it.

Beautiful bedroom update. I have a lot of gray in my house. so I would have picked the gray as well.
It turned out so good! Love the video too! Getting new carpet upstairs is next on our list. We’ve already been considering Mohawk so I’ll be looking into this.
Your bedroom is so beautiful! I love the bright colors and especially your bed.
What a beautiful update! I love the feeling of new carpet under my toes in the house. As a lover of neutrals, I LOVE the gray you picked!!
So pretty! Air.o has a couple different styles offered in the moonrock color. What style did you go with?
