The year is halfway over! Can you believe it? Now is a great time to look at what you've accomplished the past six months and decide what you want to focus on for the remainder of 2018. I recently heard a great piece of advice on a podcast about setting goals and dreaming big. Many people have something in mind they want to do or accomplish, but they get stuck on the HOW. How are they going to do it? Don't ask how, simply set the goal, keep your eye on the prize and you will figure out a way to get there. I'm now brainstorming things I want to accomplish in my life and trying my hardest to not focus on the how. As Nike would say, JUST DO IT!
Read on to see what goals I accomplished in May and what I have planned for June.
MAY GOALS
1. FILM TWO YOUTUBE VIDEOS
I filmed one Youtube video for my collaboration with Urban Air, but didn't check the second video off my list. It took me about two nights to make that one video. Sometimes I think about doing more vlog style videos that are more day in the life, but then I think that's what my IG stories are for. Do you watch YouTube videos or stick to stories?
2.
FINALLY finished our 2017 family yearbook! Towards the end I was just throwing photos on to the page, and I'm sure I have a ton of typos but I didn't care at the time. I wanted it done!
3.
Alex and I celebrated our 8th Wedding Anniversary in Georgetown, and it was SO much fun! I worked with the Sheraton and the City of Georgetown and had our hotel stay covered. I also pitched a few restaurants and activities and was able to have almost the whole weekend payed for. Thankful my blogging allows us to have fun experiences and not have to worry about money. Only thing I have to worry about is getting A LOT of photos ; )
4.
I missed a few days, but overall I completed 25 pushups every day for the month of May! I can see a difference in my arm strength, and can do a full push up so much easier now. Read on for my June fitness goal!
5. BUILD MY SHOP PAGE
My designer lives in Europe and we've been playing tag for quite a while about the shop page so hoping to have finished in June...fingers crossed!
JUNE GOALS
1. SQUAT + PUSHUP CHALLENGE
I've decided to combine my love of squats with pushups so for the month of June I'm going to do 50 squats and 20 push ups everyday. Not crazy, but I'm going for ways to get my body moving while at work, brushing my teeth, watching tv, etc.
2. FILM A "DAY IN THE LIFE" YOUTUBE VIDEO
I think it would be fun to film another day in the life YouTube video, plus it's a good way to challenge myself for video editing. Now the question is should I do it on a weekday or weekend?
3. NO SODA
I was thinking about giving up soda prior to my trip to the dentist this week, but being told I had 8 cavities sealed the deal. EIGHT?! C'mon? I brush my teeth every dang day and floss, how is that even possible? Needless to say, I'm cutting back on soda this month. It's going to be tough because I'm a sucker for an ice cold Coca Cola on a hot day.
4. PUBLISH 8 BLOG POSTS
I want to write and publish two blog posts per week for the month of June. I have a ton of blog post ideas, but when life gets busy it's easy for me to veg out on the couch at the end of the day. I need to give myself a little kick in the butt, and this goal is the perfect way!
5. NO SHOPPING CHALLENGE
With the twins changing schools our budget is taking a big hit this summer before Turner starts kindergarten in August. I've been tempted A LOT lately to purchase spring/summer items but honestly I don't need anything. I have shorts, tees, a swimsuit, dress clothes for work, sandals, a cover up and many hats so I'm prepared for summer! As I'm writing this I realize I'm going to be celebrating my best friend's birthday in Dallas next week and we were planning on going shopping...dang it! I guess this is perfect timing because I know I wouldn't have any self control at Northpark. My challenge is to not shop for myself for the entire month of June which includes shoes, accessories and clothes.
What do you have planned for June? It's going to be a fun month with five weekends, and my German host daughter from almost three years ago will be visiting!
