My Top 10 Favorite Podcasts

My morning commute takes 25-45 minutes depending on the day so having podcasts on hand makes the drive so much more enjoyable. If you don't have a commute, listening during a workout, chores around the house, or traveling is a great time to listen! Today I'm sharing my current favorite podcasts. This list is always growing!

DIRTY JOHN:
"Debra Newell is a successful interior designer. She meets John Meehan, a handsome man who seems to check all the boxes: attentive, available, just back from a year in Iraq with Doctors Without Borders. But her family doesn't like John, and they get entangled in an increasingly complex web of love, deception, forgiveness, denial, and ultimately, survival." This is similar to one of those books you CAN'T put down, except I never wanted to take my headphones out!

HOW I BUILT THIS WITH GUY RAZ:
"Guy Raz dives into the stories behind some of the world's best known companies." One of the first podcasts I ever listened to and still continue to listen to today. I love hearing the stories behind some of the most successful and well known brands. My favorite episodes include; Rent The Runway, Spanx, RXBAR, WeWork, Starbucks, Edible Arrangements, and 5-Hour Energy.

WORK LIFE WITH ADAM GRANT:
"You spend a quarter of your life at work, so shouldn't you enjoy it? Organizational psychologist Adam Grant takes you inside some of the world's most unusual workplaces to discover the keys to better work. Whether you're learning how to love criticism or trust a co-worker you can't stand, one thing's for sure; You'll never see your jobs the same way again." I find every one of these episodes fascinating and I can apply them to my work and relationships.

THE DREAM:
"What if we told you that with zero experience and only a few hundred dollars down, this podcast would change your life? Well, we'd be lying. The Dream dives into the world of pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing, and all other businesses that require their members to recruit their nearest and dearest in hopes of a commission." This will likely be a controversial podcast for many, but I've always been interested in learning about MLM's and this podcast is fascinating. If you currently or have in the past worked for an MLM, I'm interested in your take on this podcast. Thoughts?

TILTED | A LEAN IN PODCAST:
"Tilted explores the uneven playing field - the gender bias that lurks in unexpected places, the impact is has on our everyday lives, and how women are leaning in and driving change." Personal Development + Women + Work = a podcast I'm all about. I love Sheryl Sandberg's books so I was very excited when this podcast debuted!

DR. DEATH:
"Dr. Death is a true story about a charming surgeon, 33 patients and a spineless health system." This podcast is jaw dropping, cringe worthy at times, and hits close to home as it takes place in Dallas, TX. I HIGHLY recommend, and it's great for a road trip (sans kids).

RISE:
"Hosted by Rachel Hollis, Rise podcast is a bold conversation with fellow business powerhouses that provides the listener with real life tangible takeaways." I enjoy hearing from Rachel as she's a working mom and consistently working on self development and pursuing her passions. She also hosts a relationship podcast, RISE TOGETHER, with her husband that's also a great listen!

GLADIATOR:
"Football star Aaron Hernandez went from the bright lights of the Super Bowl to a convicted murdered in a few years. The Boston Globe's Spotlight Team takes a hard look at the crisis facing football through the lens of Aaron Hernandez's life and terrible crimes." For someone who's not a big fan of football, I find this podcast fascinating.

THE HAPPY HOUR WITH JAMIE IVEY:
"Each week Jamie Ivey brings a captivating woman to the show. Their conversation include issues of faith, parenting, marriage, failures and successes in life, and more. Jamie loves to connect with women and encourage them as they journey through life." I love these casual conversations Jamie has with women from different backgrounds and experiences. Best part is Jamie lives in Austin and I get to run in to her every once in a while ; ).

UP AND VANISHED:
"Season 1 of Up and Vanished explores the unsolved disappearance of Georgia beauty queen and high school teacher, Tara Grinstead, an 11-year-old cold case that is the largest case in Georgia's history." This was a long podcast with 24 total episodes, and at one point I wondered if anything would happen...but wait for it!

A few others I recommend include Awesome With AlisonCoffee + Crumbs and Online Marketing Made Easy by Amy Porterfield.

Are you a podcast listener? For someone that falls asleep every time she opens a book, podcasts are perfect! I would love to get a subscription to Audible so I could listen to books while I drive, but at this point I'm loving podcasts. I use the free app, Stitcher, to stream all of my podcasts. What are your favorites?
