I have friends who raved about T BAR M Camps in New Braunfels, TX over the years and I finally was able to experience it first hand with my own little ones. It lived up to the hype and today I'm sharing all about our camp experience and what you need to know if you are interested in signing up including a $100 discount code!
Our experience was hosted but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
They are not affiliated with any one church or denomination, but their staff does hold to a common statement of faith. Individuals from all types of faith backgrounds are welcome. Campers will hear the good news of Jesus Christ presented thoughtfully and lovingly each week.
They offer 3 overnight summer camps including Base Camp (1st-6th) and Camp Travis (7th-11th). All camps are one week long (drop off on Sunday afternoon and pick up on Saturday morning). They also offer day camps and family camps.
Base Camp is for students who've completed kindergarten through 6th grade. Camp Travis is for students who've completed 7th through 11th grade. Turner just completed 6th and his sister had just completed 3rd grade so it was fun watching them at the same camp!
They are dozens of activities planned throughout the week so your kids don't have time to be homesick! Here are a few activities at Base Camp:
- Archery
- High Ropes Course
- 18 hole mini golf
- Arts & Crafts
- 3 pools w/blobs and water slides
- Tree forts & multiple playscapes
- Disc Golf
- All the sports your heart desires: Flag Football, Kickball, Dodgeball, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Pickleball, Gaga Ball & many more
- Scooters to ride around the beautiful grounds
- Jumping Pillow
- Lazer Tag
- Lake activities at Camp Travis (wakeboarding, etc)
- Theme Nights: Every night there is a fun theme and tons of activities surrounding it. My kids favorite night was Mission Impossible night where they dressed up in camo and went through a series of challenges and competitions!
They also spend time daily to gather together to worship and learn about their faith. I think this is where the real magic happens.
What does it cost?
Base camp and Camp Travis are $1,430 a week. You can pay monthly which helps break up the cost, and all food and activities are included. Use code "JESSE100" for $100 off your first week of overnight camp (code valid until 1/31/26).
It's usually 4-5 campers to 1 counselor which is AMAZING! Campers stay in clean, comfortable, air conditioned log cabins. You are able to request bunkmates if you have friend's joining you!
The staff are energetic, genuine and are passionate about serving each child. T Bar M does an intensive search, interview process, and thorough training with their counselors and it shows! They were amazing and many return year after year. I understand it can be hard leaving your child in the care of someone you've never met, but I had confidence in T Bar M Camps and the counselors they selected.
Base Camp is located in New Braunfels, TX (1 hour south of Austin and 45 min north of San Antonio). Camp Travis is located in Spicewood, TX on Lake Travis (1 hour west of Austin, less than 2 hours north of San Antonio).
The grounds of Base Camp in New Braunfels BLEW ME AWAY! So much natural beauty, large trees for shade, and nostalgic log cabins and facilities. We made a weekend of drop off and spent the day before in New Braunfels swimming on the Guadalupe river just a few minutes away.
Two words describe overnight camp for my kids....LIFE CHANGING. I truly believe T Bar M will have an everlasting impact on my children's lives. One of the things I love the most is that my kids are surrounded by positive role models. College kids who are kind, optimistic, faithful and motivated! My kids didn't know a soul when they arrived and it pushed them to step outside their comfort zone. A skill every child needs in today's world. No wifi, no screens...pure fun for a week while the parents enjoy a little down time!
