Mo-Ranch Family Vacation

I have the fondest memories of vacationing with my family at Mo-Ranch in Hunt, TX. Growing up I looked forward to it every summer, and now as a parent I am beyond excited to continue the tradition with my family. Mo-Ranch is a Presbyterian Encampment so there are many Presbyterian camps and conferences throughout the year, but is open to the public to stay.

Exchange Student - Texas Bucket List

Alex and I are very excited to host our first exchange student in a few short weeks. I've been thinking of all the things she's going to experience for the first time in Texas, and I can't wait to be a part of it.  I've decided to put together a Texas Bucket List to make sure we take advantage of the 4 months she's here.

1. Tour the State Capitol
2. Experience a waterpark (Schlitterbahn/Hawaiian Falls)
3. Go two-stepping (not sure how this will work out, since most of the dance halls we go to are 18 and up)
4. Ride horses
5. Drive around the country on a 4-Wheeler (thankfully my sis has one and also a lot of land in the middle of no where)
6. Attend a Texas High School Homecoming Football Game & wear a MUM
7. Tailgate at a UT football game
8. Visit the State Fair of Texas
9. Take a BBQ Tour in Lockhart
10. Spend the day at the Fort Worth Stockyards
11.  Eat Tex-Mex (that's a no brainer)
12. Walk along the Riverwalk
13. Experience the outdoors in Austin (Kayaking/SUP on Town Lake, Hiking, Zilker Park)
14. Eat breakfast tacos
15. See a live concert (Alex and I bought her a ticket to see GARTH BROOKS in Dallas with us, and we are crazy excited. #AMERICA!)
16. Visit The Alamo
17. See a movie at Alamo Drafthouse (preferably a sing-a-long)
18. Hike Mount Bonnell and view the scenic Austin skyline
19. Visit the Inner Space Cavern in Georgetown
20. Visit a real Texas Rodeo

These are ambitious and also activities near the Austin/DFW/San Antonio area, which are the cities Alex and I spend the most time in.  We may not check everything off our list, but I can guarantee that our host daughter will experience so much while she's here. I love being a tour guide when people come to visit Austin, so I can't wait to show off this great state for 4 months!
