Life is moving quickly these
days, so I thought I would give you an update on what’s going on in my world!
I love this shot of the babies because you can see all three of their hemangiomas. Thanks Laura for these beautiful photos! |
WORK:
Alex and I are both still working
hard in our jobs, but there are many days I feel the push and pull of being a
working mom vs. wanting to be home. Honestly, I want to be home more often to
clean up my house not necessarily to be with my kids 24/7. Bring it on crazy
moms who think I’m heartless. A clean home makes me feel wonderful and much
less stressed. Clean counters, clean floors, laundry done, dishes out of the
sink, bathrooms clean....beds rarely every made. Beds aren’t made that often
because Turner has been wetting the bed almost every other night so I’m usually
washing sheets and blankets EVERY day…ugh.
I will likely be traveling for week
in November for work, so I’m already mentally trying to figure out how Alex is
going to manage with all the kiddos. We might send Turner off to the
grandparents while Alex watches the twins. I know that if I had to watch 3 kids
for a whole week by myself I would not be happy. Bedtime is a freak show. I
love when solicitors come to my door and I have two screaming babies behind me
on the floor. We make eye contact and I’m like SEE YA BUDDY. Ain’t nobody got
time for you.
SOCIAL:
The weather is finally cooling
down so nights chatting with my wonderful neighbors in our yards have started
back up again. Nobody went outside in July/August and I missed them! Blogger
events are starting to pick back up as we get closer to Fall. I still try to
stick to one social outing a week, sometimes I don’t go out at all, but I make
sure not to except more than one invite per week. It’s a balance of loving my
family but also loving myself, because this mama likes to socialize. There are
a few ACL events I might be going to, but at this point I don’t have an actual
ticket to ACL. I’ve actually never been, and don’t really have a desire to
start….except to see Kacey Musgraves perform this year. Have you heard she’s
releasing a Christmas album? Ahhh so excited!
I’m currently planning the next
ATX Blogger Mixer, which entails LOTS of emails. I started a Facebook page for
anyone who wants updates about the event.
MOTHERHOOD:
I took the babies to Old Navy and
Target the other day, and I realized it was the first time I’ve taken them both
out by myself in months. I think the last time was to the pediatrician when
they were 3 months old. I got TONS of looks and comments from people as I
walked by with my giant Joovy Roo stroller. I usually take a baby out one at a
time, while Alex watches the other one. It’s SO much easier that way and makes
running errands much quicker.
I spent half of the holiday
weekend by myself with the babies and oh my goodness, caring for baby twins is
tough. I absolutely loved getting to interact with them for 3 days, but I never
stopped moving. I bent down so much that I threw my back out and could barely
walk on Monday. I’m still recovering, and basically toss each baby in their
crib because I can’t bend over to lay them down…haha it’s a comical site to
see.
Laura Morsman sent over some extra photos from my session with the babies and oh my goodness....I love them all!

LOVING:
I binge watched Narcos Season 2 and can't stop saying "Hello, I'm Pablo Escobar". Anyone else fans of Ray Donovan? So intense yet amazing!
For some reason ALL I want to do is shop. It might be because last Fall I was VERY pregnant. I feel like I need to create a capsule wardrobe or I might go overboard with purchasing random items. Fall clothing is much more expensive...sweaters, boots, etc. A few items on my want list are these boots and every dress from ZARA.
Hamburgers...every since I became pregnant with Walt and Whitney I have craved hamburgers like crazy. In-n-Out, Mighty Fine and P. Terry's are my fave spots! I've also had Torchy's Tacos twice in the past week. Their taco of the month (The Tailgater) was seriously made for my taste buds - panko fried chicken tender on a bed of bacon and potatoes covered in green chile queso. Poblano ranch slaw, smoky blue cheese crumbles and a drizzle of honey on a flour tortilla. Is your mouth watering because mine is!

COMING UP:
October is going to be THE
craziest month ever but also my favorite. Every single weekend is JAM packed…friends coming to town,
blogger events, family reunion in Dallas, Turner’s birthday party, my 30th
birthday, and last but not least HALLOWEEN. Alex and I throw a big adult only
Halloween party every year with food, drinks and a costume contest. Now, what should I be? Any ideas?
What's going on with you these days?!
