Christmas Decor Storage Tips

My least favorite part of the year is here. Packing up Christmas decorations : ( . People wonder why I put up my tree in November, so the effort I took in putting it all up and taking it all down is worth it! Plus who doesn't like looking at twinkling lights?

Below I'm sharing how I pack up my holiday décor and make it an easier process!

In the past I would try to shove my tree back in the tiny cardboard box it came in, and it was not pretty. Tape everywhere. This year I bought a few large tree storage bags from At Home and it's a total game changer. No cramming, no swearing, no fighting with tape. This bag has wheels on the bottom and a comfy handle so you can easily carry wherever you need.

Ornaments I would try to either shove in the original packaging, or I had shoe boxes that I would wrap each ornament with tissue paper. Talk about time consuming! These ornament storage boxes easily hold hundreds of ornaments and keep them safe from breaking.

I replaced my thin elastic trash bags with strong canvas bags to safely store my wreaths! The drawstring allows me to fit any size wreath.

All of my At Home Christmas storage bins and bags are bright red which help me easily find my holiday décor stored in my attic. As much as I dislike taking down Christmas decorations, at least now the process will go much more smoothly and everything will be organized and safe.

During this time of the year I like to purge and start fresh. Last year I emptied my mantel of decorations, and ended up leaving it with nothing on it for a couple of months. I absolutely loved it. I've already been cleaning out my closets and kid's toys like a crazy lady. If I don't love it, it doesn't serve a purpose, or isn't used often then it's GONE! I usually spend one day packing everything up rather than dragging it out. How do you pack up your holiday décor? Have you found a way to make it enjoyable!?

I teamed up with At Home for this post, but all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands I love! Photos by Brooke Taelor.

I love those bins and bags! Beats the mismatched Rubbermaid bins I use!
