Girls Staycation

I feel extremely lucky to be surrounded by so many friends in Austin. Friends from college, friends from my neighborhood, and friends from my childhood. Kelly, Amy and I have known each other for over 22 years as we grew up in the same small town of Pleasanton, TX. The great thing about a small town is that there is ONE elementary, ONE middle school, and ONE high school. We all went off to college, and here we are in Austin. Amy and I actually work for the same company and see each other everyday, and Kelly lives 5 minutes from me.

We took a weekend staycation at Sonesta Bee Cave and celebrated our friendship! If you aren't familiar with the Austin area, Bee Cave is only a few miles west of Austin.  We had a full day of activities so read on for all the details!

Also, thank you to my awesome husband for holding down the fort with three wild and young kiddos!

To start off our weekend we took a spin class at Ride Indoor Cycling. We knew we wanted to get in a workout because we would be indulging the rest of the weekend! I love working out with friends because I truly think it's a great bonding experience.

After we indulged in pizza at Tony C's, we headed to Milk + Honey Spa for facials. Amy had the 60 minute signature facial, and I had the 45 minute HydraFacial which is HANDS DOWN my absolute favorite! The treatment is unlike any facial I've had before which includes the following steps; exfoliation, peel, vortex extraction, and then added serum to nourish and protect skin with antioxidants, peptides and hyaluronic acid. It is extremely satisfying to feel your pores being cleaned out by a vortex suction!

When we booked our staycation we had no idea the Hill Country Galleria was having a huge celebration for their grand re-opening, so it was perfect timing! We enjoyed live music from Bob Schneider on their renovated central plaza and afterwards did some shopping. We hit up the new H&M and I realized while in the dressing room I might be a bit obsessed with denim. Denim skirts, denim dresses, black denim, cropped denim, denim everything.

We headed to our hotel after a long day, showered, and headed to the rooftop bar and restaurant Meridian 98 for drinks. I had the margarita and it was AMAZING! We loved our drinks so much we ordered a second round while soaking in the perfect weather and chatting about our many years of friendship.

We had big plans of going out, but after dinner at Cafe Blue, a seafood and oyster bar, we were ready for bed by 10pm. Yep, we realized we were old and laughed about it! Sliding in to our comfy beds after a long day is exactly where we wanted to be. With three little ones at home, I wake up at least two to three times at night so all I wanted was 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep. I slept from 10:30pm to 7:30am, and it was glorious thanks to the blacked out and quiet room!

Sunday morning we stumbled upon an awesome local diner called Cafe Lago, and indulged in a carb loaded breakfast. When we walked in we sat next to a large group of high school girls who had just celebrated their high school prom the night before. They were chatting all about the night, and we couldn't help but giggle and reminisce about our naive high school days. So many memories made growing up together, and now here we are. Real jobs, home owners, parents, and this year we all turn 30.

This girls staycation was just what I needed to get a short break from mom life. Thank you Sonesta Bee Cave and Hill Country Galleria for having us!
