How I Keep My Home Clean As a Working Mom

If you're first thought when you read the title of this post was "hire a cleaning lady", know I'm not that fortunate ; ). A clean home is very important to me, and it's important to create a comfortable environment for my family and friends. A clean home makes me feel less stressed when everything around me is out of control...hello 15 month old twins and a 4 year old. As a working mom it can be hard to get everything done during the work week, unless you put it off and want to spend ALL weekend cleaning which I definitely don't want to do.

I've partnered with Lemi Shine today to share my tips on how I consistently keep my home clean during the week as a working mom! Even though this is sponsored, I can honestly say that I truly LOVE all of their products, which are 100% natural and use citrus extracts so they smell wonderful.

1.) WIPE DOWN COUNTER TOPS:
I honestly think I wipe down my counter tops 3-4 times every night because they get soooo messy with kid's hands, kid's feet (yes Turner stands on my counter top sometimes), and all the craziness that is happening in my kitchen from 5-9pm. I love using the Lemi Shine Everyday Spray Cleaner to wipe down the counter tops, high chairs, and spot clean my floors.

As I write this there is food all over my kids highchairs, but almost everything else has been wiped down so that's a win in my book.

2.) VACUUM:
Vacuuming is one of my favorite things to do. I immediately feel like my house is 10 times cleaner, even if I shove all my kid's toys into the corners of the room with the vacuum. This only takes about 5 minutes, so it's an easy chore to do every few days.

3.) PICK UP TOYS:
If  you're like me you've got laundry stacked up everywhere and toys scattered throughout the house.  I try to make an effort before bed to pick up the toys in our living room which is our most lived in area. Also, I have to move toys out of the way so no one trips over them in the night when stumbling to the kitchen to get milk for a screaming baby.

4.) LOAD/UNLOAD DISHWASHER:
Every night I have to wash 4-5 sippy cups for my babies, so I try to put away all the dishes or load the dishwasher so my sink isn't full. It feels so nice to wake up to an empty sink. I love the fresh scent of Lemi Shine's dish soap.

5.) CLEAN THE VANITY:
Every morning Alex and I get ready for work at our double sink vanity. Sometimes it can be absolute chaos in our bathroom if our babies are awake and we're trying to keep them busy while getting ready. Basically we let them pull out everything in our vanity and it creates a HUGE mess every morning. When I get home from work or before bed, I try to clean up as much as possible, clean off the counter top, and put most things back in their place. And yes, the next morning we're right back in the same spot, but at least it's not piling up. If I didn't pick up almost every day it would be disgusting by Friday.

I don't claim to have a spotless home, but I do feel it is semi clean and picked up most of the time. These five steps are helpful in making my work week go smoother and help me stay less stressed when I walk out the door every morning. I know when I get home I won't be walking in to a pigsty, but rather a comforting environment even if my kids are crying all around me. Also know that some weeks are crazier than others, and things fall to the wayside. There are days I don't get to vacuum or clean my vanity, and I have to go with the flow. I have to give myself a break every once in a while, and know that even if my house isn't spotless it's OK! What tips do you have to keep your home clean during the work week?!
