I completed all 5 of my June goals...woo hoo! I'm excited for July, and am already putting things on my schedule for September. To be honest, Christmas has come in to my mind a few times...ahhh, time flies!
JUNE GOALS
1.)
I've been friends with Chelsea from Passport to Friday for over a year, maybe more. Who knows? Time flies on social media. She travels all the time, and we always miss each other at events. Because of this goal, I straight up emailed her and said "Hey! Let's putting something down on the calendar and meet up!" Well, I wasn't that blunt, but I asked if she had any free time for dinner. It's funny because she needed to check out a restaurant for the blog at the Domain, and I needed to go to a workout class at the domain so we combined our blogger jobs and made it a date! Free workout for her, free dinner for me. Oh when bloggers unite ; ) It was great learning more about what she does, and seeing her personality in real life, not simply through an Instagram caption.
2.)
Not only did I make an appointment, but I had two actual visits within two weeks! I had my teeth cleaned, a ton of x-rays, and 4 fillings. Ugh. Honestly, I cried after my visit. It was due to a lot of things, but one thought I had was that life goes by so quickly. My mom is retired, I'm getting old. Ahh...life. It was so weird being in a dentist office where I didn't know everyone. It was hard to trust a new dentist.
3.)
I pitched two travel brands. One flat out said NO, and the other threw me a tiny courtesy gift that's not really worth anything. Doesn't hurt to try, right?! I'm not giving up!
4.)
I stuck to my guns on this one! I bought a few things for the kids at Gap, but they aren't part of my 6 month no shopping challenge. Although I am trying to spend less on them. My total was $1.30 because I had so many points in my account. I don't have a lot of credit cards, but my FAVORITE is by far my GAP card. I buy most of mine and my children's clothes from Old Navy and Gap, so the reward points I receive are AWESOME and so worth it in my mind.
5.)
I definitely tried on this one. I'm not sure how to measure this one, but I can say that I turned down a few events and workouts because I wanted to be at home with my kids. For Father's Day I was at home most of the day while Alex had a 3 hour spa treatment, which I won on an Instagram giveaway. Then he and Turner went to a hibachi steakhouse for dinner. I took it easy, and was basically my children's human jungle gym all day.
JULY GOALS
1.) LEARN LIGHTROOM
I've had a lot of photographers and bloggers tell me how amazing LightRoom is, but for the longest time I put it off. I do that with most things when it comes to blogging. I finally gave in when I saw Ailee Petrovic, photographer and blogger, selling one of her LightRoom presets for $30. It gave me the push I needed to download the free trial, and buy the preset. Then I decided to buy an additional Mastin Labs preset. So, my goal for June is dive in to learning how to edit and organizes photos well! It's weird, but I'm nervous about changing the look/style of my Instagram feed based off the LightRoom editing/presets I'm going to use. I'm used to ONLY using Instagram to edit photos. I've never used VSCO or any other editing app. I really need to sit ad
2.) GRAB LUNCH WITH SOMEONE WHO INSPIRES ME
I've been repeating this goal almost every month, and it's by far one of my favorites!
3.) FINISH A BOOK
It takes me FOREVER to finish a book. I started Present over Perfect three months ago and just finished it. My sister gave me The Shack, and says it's life changing. Most nights I blog and then go to bed, but I want to read at least 10 minutes before bed every night. After I read The Shack I want to read Big Magic, because every creative podcast tells me I should. Are you a reader? If so, when do you read?
4.) WEAR MY RETAINER
I've had braces twice and Invisalign once! Once because my teeth were all jacked up as a kid, second time to correct and overbite and the third time was when I was 27 and annoyed with my bottom teeth being crooked. Of course I never wore my retainer as a kid OR an adult, so my teeth are starting to shift again. I used to wear my retainer quite a bit, but over the past 2 years it's been less and less. Sometimes I'll go 3-4 weeks, and then I'll put it in and cringe. OUCH! So, my goal is to wear my retainers at least 1-2 times per week.
5.) TRY SOMETHING NEW IN AUSTIN
Whether that be a new restaurant or a new activity I would love to try something new in Austin. There are so many amazing restaurants, bars and activities in the area, but I get caught up in my suburb bubble and don't try new things.
Do you have any goals for July?
