Mo-Ranch Family Vacation 2017 | TX Hill Country

Ever since I was a young girl I have vacationed with my family at Mo-Ranch located along the Guadalupe River. It holds a very special place in my heart, and I'm thankful to be able to continue the tradition with my husband and children. This was our second year to go with a handful of our neighbors, and it was an absolute blast as always!

Check out why Mo-Ranch is a must see for every Texan and the perfect location for a family getaway!

LODGING
We stayed at Westminster Lodge which has 4 separate rooms each with their own bathroom, queen bed, bunk bed and balcony. We love this aspect because everyone has their own space, and then we have a common room which is where the kitchen, dining room and living room are located. We put all the kids to bed, and then head to the common room to chat and play games.

This year there was an amazing meteor shower and we sat outside on the patio and watched the stars for hours. The sky is extremely clear at Mo-Ranch and you feel like you can see every star! The best part is there is no cell phone service. As a lover of social media and an avid user, it's nice to be forced to not use it. I didn't touch my phone all weekend, and it was wonderful. I spent that time playing with my son or talking with Alex and my friends.

FOOD
The week before we left I created a google doc and everyone signed up for a meal or two. This is the way to go because I only had to worry about preparing ONE meal the entire weekend. You better believe I chose the meal that didn't involve cooking. Sandwiches, chips and dessert for lunch out by the water! There is a cafeteria on-site if you don't feel like cooking, and the nearest town is about 30 minutes away.

ACTIVITIES
My favorite part about Mo-Ranch are the swimming spots it offers along the Guadalupe River. There are deep sections and shallow sections perfect for little ones. There is a rope swing, pool, sand volleyball court, disc golf course, rapids, canoes, and the most popular activity...the MO-SLIDE! The Mo-Slide was built in the 1940s and is 38 feet tall. You walk a wood sled up to the very top and shoot out in to the cool waters of the Guadalupe river! It's terrifying for some, but most people love it! I think Turner will be ready to do it next year when he's almost 6.

After swimming and dinner we like to walk down to the large playground to get the very last bit of energy out of our kids. We also take a morning hike every year to the Inspiration Point where we take family pics and get an amazing view of the Texas Hill Country.

A part of me wants to keep this little slice of heaven a secret so it's not overcrowded one day, but it's too great not to share. The best part is it's affordable and only 3 hours from Austin! Mo-Ranch is affiliated with the Presbyterian church, but you don't have to be Presbyterian to vacation here. It's open to the public! Check out my YouTube video which gives an inside look at our trip!
