April Small Goals

I'm thankful it has finally stopped raining, and it's starting to warm up in Austin! March was a fun month with a trip to Magnolia, the most hilarious moment we've ever had with Walt, and Turner running his first Spartan race and starting T-ball. I've got some big goals for April, but first see what I accomplished in March!

 MARCH GOALS

1. GET A HAIRCUT
My stylist moved and I've been dreading finding a new one every since. It had been over 5 months since I had my hair cut and highlighted. Thankfully my friend Stephanie recommended a stylist in North Austin and she's great! Best part is she's super friendly and I enjoy chatting with her. I tried biology for the first time, and I'm liking it so far.

2. WRITE ABOUT DEBT
It felt a bit daunting trying to write about our debt, but I decided to break it up in to posts and start with the basics; HOW WE FELL BACK IN TO DEBT. Since I've written that post we've been watching our spending, and we've decided to use the EveryDollar budget app by Dave Ramsey after trying out the YNAB app. We are planning on doing Financial Peace University for the second time with our neighbors this summer.

3. NOT STEP FOOT IN A TARGET
I last three and a half weeks without walking in to a Target until I saw Who What Wear released a new round of spring items for their collection, and I was dying to go in and try them on. I was BLOWN away by the adorable and affordable pieces (see my try on session here)! I didn't walk out with anything, but a week later my mom and I were in Target and she bought me these gingham shorts.

4. REPLACE MY WATCH BATTERIES
I finally had 5 watch batteries replaced at the Fossil outlet store! It was hard forking out $10 a watch, but then I sold one on Poshmark which made me feel better.

5. PITCH TRAVEL BRANDS
I pitched, and pitched, and pitched. Here's the thing, sometimes I get a YES but most of the time I get a NO. It's hard when I get told I don't have enough followers but I get it. I know these companies are getting pitched by hundreds of bloggers, and many have much higher numbers than I do. Will I stop pitching? Nope! I work hard for every collaboration I get, and most of the time I am the one who pitched the company. I try to focus on brands that makes sense for my lifestyle, family, and readers. If you see a sponsored post know I worked my butt off for it, and I'm proud of the content I create.

APRIL GOALS

1. 30 DAY SQUAT CHALLENGE
I stumbled upon a BuzzFeed post about a 30 day/100 squat challenge and I was intrigued. I watched the video and thought it would be a fun challenge. I'm always up for something different, and I'm currently waiting for my new gym to get built so I was looking for ways to exercise in the interim. I'll be doing 100 squats every day for 30 days. Yesterday was my first day, and my current strategy is breaking them up in to increments of 25 throughout the day. I did 25 before bed and boy did it get my heart rate going. I was a tad sore today, but I love that feeling!

2. SIGN TURNER UP FOR KINDERGARTEN
My neighbor mentioned the other day I could sign Turner up for kindergarten, and I replied, "Oh really?! I guess I should get on that." Then I went on his school website and found out I missed the kindergarten roundup. How the heck was I supposed to know about a kindergarten event happening in March? I for some reason thought I would be signing him up in July and he would start in August, but I'm also the parent who ALWAYS forgets to have him do his pre-k homework. I'm not ready for homework!

3. MAKE A BUDGET
We've talked about a budget a lot and are trying to spend less, but we have yet to sit down and go over line item by line item of our current expenses and spending. At the end of the day we are so tired from kids, the last thing we want to do is talk about money. We tend to get pretty heated when it comes to spending, and what we should and shouldn't be spending money on.

4. CELEBRATE ALEX
Alex turns 30 this month and I'm excited to celebrate this milestone with him! Our families put our money together and bought him these boots which he has been wanting for a long time We hired a babysitter, and we'll be celebrating with a night in Austin!

5. PLAN THE 10TH ATX BLOGGER MIXER
Last but not least I'm VERY excited to announce I'm going to be hosting the 10th ATX Blogger Mixer! I hosted my 9th mixer a year ago at SoulCycle, and afterwards I was ready for a break. There were so many wonderful networking events going on, and I needed to focus work and family. I posted about missing hosting blogger events on Instagram a while back and got a ton of responses from Austin bloggers asking me to host another one. I've been itching for something fun to plan, and I feel like I haven't been socializing much lately so I'm back at it! Stay tuned for details, it's going to be AWESOME!

April is going to be a fun and busy month! I'll also be taking a trip to Phoenix, Arizona for work, and then spending a long weekend in Scottsdale with my mom and sis! I've never been to Arizona before so send me your recommendations!

I love reading your small goals! It’s such a great idea to break it down and do it monthly. 👍
