Spring 10x10 Recap

I participated in the Spring 10x10 Challenge a few weeks ago, which was my second time to participate in Caroline Casey and Lee Vosburgh's style challenge. If you aren't familiar with the 10x10 challenge, you choose 10 items of clothing (including shoes but not accessories), style those items into 10 different looks, and wear them over 10 days. You can see my Winter 10x10 Recap here!

I love a good challenge and this one is always fun yet difficult as I have to choose items that are formal enough for work and casual enough for weekends with kids. Check out my 10 items and how I styled them!

Below are the 10 items I chose which included 3 shirts, 1 dress, 2 pairs of pants, 1 blazer, and 3 pairs of shoes.

Tops:
- Black Tee (Extremely soft and the perfect everyday tee, comes in lots of colors)
- White Oxford Shirt (I NEVER wear white because KIDS, but this shirt is so versatile and is now a staple piece in my closet)
- Denim Pearl Snap Shirt (I highly recommend! I sized up and am wearing a size medium)

Dress:
- Black and White Striped Dress (This dress was super soft and very versatile to dress up or down. Stripes add depth.)

Pants:
- Gingham Skinny Ankle Pants (I hunted for a pair of gingham pants that were comfy and stretchy enough to wear on the weekends, but also formal enough to wear to work. This pair was the PERFECT match!)
- Green Cropped Wide-Leg Chinos (My favorite outfits of the challenge featured these pants! I could have styled them many more ways, and the best part is they were under $30!)

Layers:
- Black Blazer (If you work in an office it's a good idea to have a simple black blazer in your closet. The blazer I styled is actually a few years old from Forever21, but I found a very similar blazer from Old Navy!)

Shoes:
- Black Sneakers (By far my favorite shoes! Since the challenge I've worn them a ton to work and on the weekends. They are extremely comfortable and premium leather. Here's a more affordable option.)
- Tan Clogs (You might think wooden clogs wouldn't be comfy, but I'm obsessed! These have a 2.5 inch heel, rubber sole and a leather upper. For sizing reference I'm a size 7.5 and ordered a size 38. They run narrow.)

Accessories:
I tend to not wear accessories, but I was challenged to incorporate hats, scarves and other items to mix it up. I found out I love wearing hats, and I'm inspired by women who wear them to take fashion risks and be bold!

Honestly I could have styled a few more outfits with these items, so at the end of 10 days I wasn't dying to wear something different. Lessons learned 1.) My co-workers never noticed, and most people won't. 2.) Shoes are key! I felt like having three pairs of shoes to mix and match made the challenge easier and more fun since shoes are usually the first item I want to style.

The Summer 10x10 Challenge is up next, and I can't wait to participate. Will you join me?
