Turner Jack | 6 Years Old

Happy Birthday Turner Jack! Six years ago on October 19 you were born in Austin surrounded by family (your grandparents on both sides and your aunt Nacona were ALL in the room). You were named Turner because I love my upbringing so much I wanted you to have a piece of it. When I call your name I think of my father, Steven Jack Turner. I'm so very proud of you, and I'm blessed to continue my family's legacy through you and Walt and Whitney.

You started kindergarten this year and you are loving it! When I pick you up from the YMCA you talk about what sports you played during recess or P.E. and you tell me how boring art is. There's doubt you are a sports loving kid, and you will definitely be an athlete one day. I'm praying it's not in football. Maybe a more gentle sport like swimming or tennis?

The only bad notes I get from your teacher are those saying you spent most of learning time trying to make your classmates laugh. I can't blame you, I was named senior class clown ; ).

You are VERY independent. So independent it's scary. Like the other day when you decided to not wait for the neighbors and took off for school on your bike...BY YOURSELF. Thankfully you made it to school safely (thank you Jesus for the crossing guards), but you sure did make my heart race. I wasn't sure if I should be proud or angry!

You have requested fruit before bed every night since you were two years old, and you try to wiggle in to my bed almost every night. Your favorite book is Cowboy Rodeo, you ride your bike every day, and you love In-N-Out burger as much as your mom. You take showers, get yourself ready in the morning (teeth brushing is a daily battle), and eat a pancake stick for breakfast and a Pb&j sandwich for lunch every day.

On your 6th birthday I'm taking Round Rock donuts to your class and bringing you Chic-fil-a for lunch. You don't know it yet but you're getting a character award from your teacher during the student ceremony, and I'm so excited to see your face light up when you receive it. After school we're going to Chuck-E-Cheese with the fam, and then your cousins are coming over for a sleepover. You are so loved, and I can't wait to see the man you become!

Love,
Mom
