I'm excited to take you inside my kitchen and living room, which is the focal point and most lived in space of our home. It's hard for me to pinpoint my decor style because I truly love it all. I enjoy incorporating classic, modern, and vintage pieces. Check out how I try to incorporate a bit of everything!
KITCHEN:
The #1 reason I fell in love with our new home was the kitchen and living room layout. I can host guests, Alex can cook, and we can watch the kids all from the same area. I didn't want a closed off formal dining room, as I knew I wouldn't use the space. We have a large quartz island which is where we do most of our eating and the dining area in the corner for more formal meals. The island has great storage on both side which is where I put most of my serving ware and glass home decor. We added brushed nickel hardware, and try to keep our countertops clear of stuff. Our barstools were very affordable (less than $150 for a set of 4) and very durable for kids.
LIVING ROOM:
I'm by no means an interior designer, and was honestly very nervous about decorating my living room. I got a lot of help from Pinterest, which I have tons of inspiration on my boards if you're interested in checking them out. My first decision was the couch which we purchased from Living Spaces for $1,200. It's made of polyester and holds up very well with kids. Alex and I finally agreed on a slimmer profile leather recliner which we also purchased at Living Spaces for $700. Our ottoman is one of my absolute favorite purchases ($240) which is faux leather but very high quality. My kids jump on it constantly, and it's very sturdy! Lastly I purchased an area rug from Rugs USA, and this one hides dirt and stains extremely well so I highly recommend.
I had a large empty space between the living room and kitchen I wanted to fill which is where our buffet table is now. I spent months searching china cabinets and buffet tables and finally found the winner at Nadeau in Austin. I love their store because it has unique affordable pieces, but you do have to stop in every couple of months to check their inventory as they get in shipments every month. The large round mirror is from CB2 (42" in brass), but also comes in silver, black and smaller sizes.
DINING ROOM:
I looked high and low for a dining room table that fit the style of my home. I fell in love with a farmhouse style table from Nadeau Austin for $700. The dining chairs are from our old table via IKEA, and ended up working with the new table. I purchased the black geometric chandelier for $250, and since these photos were taken I've added a natural braided area rug and LOTS of plants. On my to-do list is add curtains to the windows to add texture to the space.
