Nestled in the TX Hill Country is Jellystone Park™ Hill Country in Canyon Lake, Texas (1 hour south of Austin and 1 hour north of San Antonio). Whether you are an RV enthusiast, enjoy the comfort of a cabin, or prefer tent camping, Jellystone Park's first-rate accommodations, amenities and activities provide the setting for a fun family vacation that's also easy on the wallet! Check out my full guide to this family-friendly property and why it's one of my new favorite destinations in Texas!
This trip was hosted by Jellystone, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
LODGING:
There are multiple ways to stay including tent sites, RV sites and cabins. If you have a large group they offer cabins that sleep 14-16 people! We stayed at Hill Country Cabin #1 which sleeps up to 10 (no more than 6 adults). Amenities of our cabin included;
- Queen bed
- Twin bunk bed
- Loft area with 2 twin mattresses
- Full futon
- Kitchen (oven)
- Full bathroom w/bathtub
- AC/Heat
- Cable TV
- Covered porch
- Picnic table
- Fire ring
- Charcoal grill
Linens are not included, but you can rent them if you don't want to bring your own. Our cabin was in the perfect location next to the outdoor and indoor pool. The kids LOVED the loft and bunkbeds, but to be honest we didn't spend much time inside.
The daily activities are what truly sets Jellystone apart from other vacation destinations. Everything is kid-focused and perfect for families. There's was NEVER a moment my kids were bored, and I felt like the activities were enjoyable for the kids and adults! They have a weekly schedule for activities by the HOUR! That's right, there is something every hour the kids can participate in. Most are included with your stay, but some are an additional cost. We purchased a Fun Pass, which is a great way to get a discount off the activities that have a fee. Be sure to bring a bike or scooter for the kids to ride, as it's a fun neighborly vibe and kids are riding around everywhere! Check their weekly schedule before you arrive to see what the week's theme is, and bring glow sticks for the nighttime parties!
Activities include;

Gem Mining was Walt and Whitney's favorite activity, and Turner loved Laser Tag (must be 8 to participate) and mini-golf! You really never need to leave the property, but if you want to explore, the Guadalupe River is a few minutes away and Jellystone offers a shuttle service if you want to go tubing. I highly recommend if you've never done it! It's also a few minutes from Canyon Lake, which we explored a bit before we checked in.
FOOD:
On site you can find Pic-A-Nic Basket, which offers family-friendly options including pizza, burgers, chicken strips, wings, cocktails and more! We enjoyed being able to grab lunch while hanging out at the pool. Included in our Fun Pass was a free kids meal and bear sundae, which was a waffle bowl serving Blue Bell ice cream and Oreos that make the shape of a bear! It was so cute, and the kids loved it! On Sunday they offered a $5 pancake breakfast. You are allowed to bring your own food and drinks to the pool area, and our cabin had a full-kitchen with utensils and pots and pans if you want to cook. There is also a camp store that sells the basics if you forget anything or need to grab s'mores supplies!
We did venture out to Gruene (15 min drive) to eat at one of our favorite Texas restaurants, The Gristmill. Plan for a long wait, but the town is so cute to explore and there's lots of grass for kids to run around.
I've heard the holiday months around Halloween and Christmas are super fun due to festive activities, so I'm already planning our next trip! There are multiple locations in Texas, and next up on my list is the Kerrville or Fredericksburg location. Have you ever been? They over +75 parks in the U.S. and Canada. Check out their website to book your stay!
