March Small Goals

February was a fun and tough month. Highlights were seeing Kasey Musgraves and Midland live, taking a weekend trip to Wimberley, and finally visiting Kelsey and her family in Des Moines, Iowa. Lows were the dreary weather (Texans aren't used to this much rain and cold temps) and hurting my back.

Check out how I did in February, and what I have planned for March. I have some fun and challenging goals this month!

FEBRUARY GOALS

1. DECORATE MY OFFICE
My new office isn't 100% complete, but I added two lamps, cleaned my desk, and changed out my old photos! I use a space heater every day, and love the large window I get to look out of!

2. EXERCISE TWICE A WEEK
This one was dramatically put on hold due to some major back issues. Almost every weekend I would throw my back out to the point I could barely walk. Usually after a couple of days it would fade, but recently it hasn't faded. I constantly feel my back is straining, and my muscles are EXTREMELY tight. I went to a chiropractor and he said my hip flexors were super tight, and that I needed to stretch as often as possible.  I didn't work out at PureBarre almost the entire month and missed it terribly.  My goal is to stretch often and strengthen my back as much as possible so this stops happening!

3. GIVE MYSELF A BREAK
Things slowed down a lot in February, and it was very refreshing. My back and the terrible weather pretty much forced me to slow down, but you can bet my kids kept me on my toes!

4. MEET A NEW FRIEND
I had the pleasure to speak and lead a panel at the Thrive Blogger Conference last weekend in Austin, and I met a ton of amazing women. I also met Kelly and Jeff Mindell which was SO FUN. I got to chat with Jeff during the kick-off party about kids, buying a house and blogging. They're keynote was damn good, and one of my favorite quotes from Kelly was, "It's the fear of risk that gives you the drive to make it work. If you're not scared, it's too late." PREACH!

5. FINSH OUR FAMILY YEARBOOK
For some reason I dread doing this project even though I love the final product.  I've finished about 15 pages and about 5-10 more to go. There are so many pictures it's hard to choose! I use Shutterfly every year and it usually costs me around $60. Hoping to finish it in March.

MARCH GOALS

1. GET A HAIRCUT
My last haircut was at the beginning of October, and my hair is turning in to a mullet. Unfortunately my stylist moved, so it's time to find someone new. If you have any recommendations for someone who does a great cut and highlights in north Austin/Round Rock let me know!

2. WRITE ABOUT DEBT
It's a blog post I've been putting off, but I feel the desire to share our story about going back in to debt after being debt free. We're in the middle of the struggle, which I think is a great time to allow others to see our journey. Everyone struggles with money, and I would love to share an honest picture in to what spending and saving looks like in our home. Alex and I did Financial Peace University with our neighbors a few years ago and loved it. We are hoping to do it again this spring or summer.

3. NOT STEP FOOT IN A TARGET
As you read above, we are in debt so I really shouldn't be spending any money on clothes or other crap at Target. No dollar spot. No pretzels and an ICEE. No Easter decor. No $5 toy for Turner to keep him quiet so I can shop in peace. I work right next to a Target and often on my lunch break I'll run there to shop or grab something I "need". I know I have enough self-control to only buy what I'm going in to get, but I think it's fun to do challenges like this.

4. REPLACE MY WATCH BATTERIES
This one sounds so small, but I have 6 watches with dead batteries. I have put off getting them replace for almost three years. I'm going to bite the bullet, pay the fee, and get those darn things working again!

5. PITCH TRAVEL BRANDS
Summer will be here before you know it and due to our budget (which is none) I want to pitch a few travel brands for vacations.  I was planning an anniversary trip to Costa Rica, but realized I should put that money towards our debt. I've come to terms Alex and I don't need an extravagant getaway, even if we drove to a hotel down the street I'm pretty sure we'd be happy because we'd be kidless and that's a vacation in itself!
