And they're off!

Upstate New York is definitely one of the prettiest areas I've ever been. I enjoyed the small beautiful towns way more than the city.  If it wasn't for my family in Texas and the cost of living, I would move in a heart beat.

Couldn't pass up the ice cream cut out.

Trees lined the highway and EVERYTHING was green as we drove up to Lake Placid. I don't remember the last time I've seen a pure green forest. Rivers and lakes lined the roads as well, which seeing water in general right now is amazing considering Texas looks and feels like a desert.

Now to my favorite part of the trip, the Saratoga Race Track. I love horses, so being around such amazing thoroughbreds was a treat. We gambled a bit, and probably lost most of it. Bobby Flay was there with his horse that was supposed to win. So I bet on it, and just my luck it almost got last place.  The funniest part of the race track was crazy hats and greasy old men spending their retirement checks.

With some good connections, we were allowed to visit some private stables where we could see the horses. This horse loved me.

To the race track

After NYC, Alex and I headed 3 hours north to Saratoga Springs to visit family.  I had no room in our 1 bag to bring an oversized hat, so this is what I wore to the race track.

New York #2

Let me just say that the subway in NYC is a bit more difficult than any other subway I've ridden.  I pretty much had a mental break down on the first night because I was so frustrated. Lesson learned...use a map rather than an iPhone to navigate through New York.

Saw some great art at the Museum of Modern Art.

I made Alex walk quite a bit to find this Waffle Truck in central park. I will pretty much do anything for waffles and nutella.

This Harry Winston window display on 5th Avenue stopped me dead in my tracks. Hello diamonds.

Before I left for NY many people told me I had to visit Bloomingdales. I had heard the name, but I thought it was a simple department store that was just known for being large. Boy was I wrong. I felt like a homeless bum when I walked in.  I looked over at Alex and said, "Where's the sale rack?" He replied, "I don't think there is one." I looked at a few items, and then got the heck out of there.  Bloomingdales and their little brown bag did not fit in to my small shopping budget, so I left and went to H&M.

New York #1

Well, our trip to New York was a success and probably the best vacation I've ever been on.  New York City was everything I expected and more. I walked until I had blisters on my feet and my calves were on fire, but it was totally worth it. I dressed for comfort and pretty much didn't get many pictures of me, so sorry for not having many outfit posts this week.

My reaction when we walked in to our hotel room and saw this view! We could see the entire World Trade Center sight and the Hudson River.

We saw the Lion King the first night we got there. Stage/Costumes were amazing.

  Bryant Park

And of course the Naked Cowboy. This guy is a genius.

Erin

Meet Erin, my peace loving hippie friend.  Erin has that care free hippie style that doesn't take much effort but she looks amazing all the time.  Don't be fooled by her rock hard body which she got from many years of ballet, she is one of the kindest people you will ever meet.

Strength

This is my best friend Sierra who has dealt with more tragedy in the past month than I have my entire life. She lost her father suddenly and 2 weeks later her grandmother.  Sierra has been an inspiration to me and many others that no matter what happens we must have strength, faith, and hope in the Lord.  Instead of being bitter and angry, Sierra does the opposite and shows love, compassion, and even joy through the hard times. I thank God for putting such an amazing example in my life.
