Sunday Style + Thoughts On Finally Getting Back to Church

It happened...we finally made it to church! It only took 8 months! I've missed it so much, but nap time always seemed to coincide with it and I was too anxious about getting us all there. Any mamas experience this?!

I missed worshiping with other believers, and I missed hearing from our pastor. I desperately want to get involved and get to know more members, but life is CRAZY right now. I know, excuses excuses. Alex and I would love to join a group bible study, but what the heck are we supposed to do with our three kiddos? My first step is signing up for the upcoming Women's Dinner. This stage of life holds me back, but I know that I will make time for what I'm passionate about. I want to ignite the passion I used to have for the church, fellowship, and spending with the Lord. The truth is, he's never far from me. I speak with him often through out the day, but over the years I have lost my child like spirit that I had when I first discovered my faith in high school. I could go on and on, but I'll leave it at...even though life has been a bit chaotic, God has been close and I'm often brought to tears when I think of the grace he's bestowed upon my family and I.

Tell me...has motherhood changed your faith or participation in church?

I definitely took some time off church when my kids were newborn, so with twins it's not surprising you needed a little extra! But once they got a little bigger it's been even more important for me to be involved. This year we had to change churches because for the last 4 years we were attending a small, close-knit church plant that sadly closed. It was a really hard transition! We chose a much bigger church that will provide us with stability and a lot of great kids programs. So far I'm loving it but it's harder to make friends. You definitely have to be proactive in a place like this!

After our twins were born, we didn't really go much for the first couple years. Then we had our third child, baptized her, and learned that the twins could start Sunday School. That was a game changer. They just had their first Sunday doing that and loved it. Plus, our church has their Sunday School class (I think just the preschool age) during the first service and for 50 minutes after. So my husband and I can sit through the service without them getting restless, then have coffee and fellowship after. It's fantastic. And a great way to attract young families, I think.
