If you are heading to the most beautiful town square in Texas and you're looking for the best activities, restaurants and shopping this post is for you! This guide is more focused on girls or couples trips.
Let's start with "the square" which I will refer to a lot. Georgetown has an iconic Texas downtown with a courthouse in the very center surrounded by grass and a the surrounding block lined with picturesque buildings that house various businesses including restaurants, shopping and bars. I truly love the vibes you get as you walk around the square. During the day you will find kids eating ice cream on the corner bench and live musicians at night in the same spot strumming their guitar. It's the perfect place for a relaxing weekend unlike the hustle and bustle of Austin.
All the restaurants I've listed are local so you can't go wrong!
- Georgie's (the best shrimp cocktail I've ever had & don't pass on the hushpuppies)
- La Riv Italian (handmade pasta, craft cocktails, and their pizza carne is 10/10)
- 600 Degrees Pizzeria (casual vibe, wings/pizza, large draft beer selection, outdoor seating)
- Dos Salsas (quintessential Tex-Mex. It's not fancy but an affordable and delicious spot just down from the square. My go-to are the Suiza enchiladas)
- Mikey V's Tacos (If you need a quick bite this is a great spot right on the square. Birria tacos are their most popular and don't forget to get try one of their micheladas or wineritas w/chamoy)
- Golden Rule (vibrant patio, craft cocktails & delicious entrees)
- Goodfolks (scratch kitchen with a full bar. They have delicious salads, chicken fried steak, honey butter biscuits & more)
- Blue Corn Harvest (Farm to table restaurant on the square w/a full bar. I LOVE their Southwestern Grilled Chicken Salad)
First and foremost, you can take any drinks to-go and walk the square while drinking. It's legal in Georgetown both beer and liquor!
- Union Merchant (my favorite spot to sit outside is Union's gorgeous patio right off the square. They have an amazing selection of wine, sometimes live music and you've got to try their fresh truffle popcorn. We love to grab a glass of wine here before dinner)
- Grape Creek (wine tasting room on the square opens 7 days a week. They have an exclusive patio and lounge for their wine club members)
- Kork Wine Bar (over 250 bottles to select from, 25 by the bottle plus they have pizza, salads and charcuterie boards)
- Mesquite Creek (one of my favorite spots to hang with friends, listen to live music and watch a game)
- Tejas Meat Supply (TVs with every game, picnic tables, large bar, live music & try their pickle cocktail! This is my go-to spot to grab a spicy marg and walk around the square)
- Rentsch Brewery
- Thirsty Longhorn
- Juniper (crafted cocktails & chef-created tapas)
- Brass Peacock (THE hottest spot in town and hard to get into because it's pretty small but has the coolest vibes. It's a speakeasy in the basement of City Post with live jazz music every night, open Wednesday-Saturday)
- 309 Coffee (picturesque house right off the square that makes an amazing cappuccino. This is where you'll find the locals gathering and where I work from at least twice a week. Lots of outdoor seating & an area for kids to play)
- Blue Hole Park (Blue hole is a swim hole for all ages bordered by limestone bluffs along the San Gabriel River. There are restrooms and a few shaded areas for you to set up camp if you want to spend your day there. Bring water shoes as it does get slippery!)
- Sweet Eats Farm (more for the kids but I see quite a few adults visit to take pics with pumpkins in the fall, walk the corn maze and pet farm animals In the spring they have fields of sunflowers and tulips!
- Lounge on the Courthouse grass (bring your chairs or blanket and head to the grass at the courthouse. This is often where we meet up with friends to have a drink, let the kids run around and play & enjoy the ambiance of Georgetown)
- Georgetown has quite a few events throughout the year including Market Days (second Saturday of each month March through November), Christmas Stroll, Red Poppy Fest & Two Step Inn Music Festival (every April)
WHERE TO STAY
- Sheraton (pool, on-site restaurant/bar, near the river and a park/playscape. Last time I stayed here they let me use their bikes to ride to the square)
- Ruby Hotel & Bar (Georgetown doesn't have a boutique hotel but this one is in Round Rock just a few miles down the road and has a pool & great bar)
- Imhoff House (100 year old historic home in the heart of Georgetown. Walkable to the square but only sleeps 3 people)
Georgetown really feels like a Hallmark movie so I hope you come and enjoy all this adorable city has to offer!

This article is great! I like the tips for places to eat and drink. The square sounds fun and pretty. I want to try the tacos and the ice cream. Thank you for sharing!
This sounds like one of those perfect slow-weekend towns where you end up eating way more than you planned and don’t regret a single bite 😄
Georgetown Square especially feels like the kind of place where you can just drift around all day—coffee in the morning, boutique browsing in the afternoon, then suddenly you’re sitting outside with live music playing in the background and wondering how it’s already evening.
Your food list is honestly dangerous (in the best way). Georgie’s and La Riv already sound like “we said one appetizer but ordered the whole menu” kind of spots. And City Post being in a historic building with a hidden bar downstairs? That’s exactly the kind of place where plans “just for dinner” turn into a full night out.
If someone’s planning a whole weekend there, it’s basically food + walk + repeat until you need a nap break somewhere scenic.
And for anyone who likes mixing travel vibes with a bit of entertainment downtime in the evening, there’s also this kind of casual online stop people sometimes check out: vegas hero

Great guide – Georgetown's square sounds like the perfect mix of charm and good food, way more relaxed than Austin. Georgie's shrimp cocktail and La Riv's pasta are definitely on my list, and Killer Taco's free beer with a taco is just too good to pass up.
