Bloggers Unite

When tickets first went on sale for the 2012 TX Style Blogger Conference, I quickly rushed to buy mine.  By the time the conference came around, I honestly was very nervous and almost felt like backing out. Why? I don't know, maybe that scared insecure little girl inside of me saying...danger, danger...powerful, fashionable women that have amazing blogs.  Luckily the traffic, horrible weather, and my insecurities didn't keep my away.

I was nervous walking in to the first event, but I was instantly welcomed by warm smiles and wonderful conversation.  Every woman I met had a great story, and I left every night of the conference extremely excited I had made new fashion friends.  I was seriously giddy.  One of the biggest things I took away from the conference was, I don't have a passion for blogging, and I probably won't blog much longer.  Is it weird that I would attend an amazing blogging conference, and I would come away realizing I don't want to blog?  I don't think so.  I do enjoy telling my stories and talking about life and fashion, but it is becoming more of a hassle rather than a joy.  I experience a bit of anxiety when I think of quitting blogging cold turkey, but lately I have been blogging less and less.  I'm still not 100% sure what I want to do, but I did learn a good lesson from Kendi, "Your blog is not your purpose. Let it drive your purpose."  Thank you Indiana and staff for a wonderful conference, and the opportunity to meet some amazing women that all have meaningful stories to tell.

Here are a few pics that sum up the weekend.

Great swap presented by Swap.com & Lulus! I scored this awesome leopard print purse.

Got to meet the hilarious, Courtney Kerr.  I'm pretty much die laughing every time she has any commentary on Most Eligible Dallas.

Loved the PoshMark Party! I'm about to post a ton of my clothes on the new App.

Made new friendships with these ladies.

Skirt: H&M. Top: Dillards. Jacket: Francesca's. Boots: Vintage. Purse: Thrifted

Take a break

Here's to mid-term week! Other than the wonderful swap this weekend, I was hitting the books every other minute.  Of course I had to have a mind numbing hour here and there to give myself a break. Nothing better than watching DVRd reality shows (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills/Jersey Shore/Rachel Zoe/Sister Wives...the list goes on).

Time to SWAP

I'm so excited about the Collegiate Clothing Swap tomorrow! Hope and I will be at the UBC Basement from 8-10 am to collect your clothes, and then you may come back between 12 and 2pm to swap! Bring your gently used shoes, pants, shirts, dresses, jackets, scarves, jewelry, purses, etc.

Remember...
Each piece of clothing/accessory = 1 swap ticket
Each swap ticket = 1 piece of clothing/accessory

Here are a few items out of my closet I'm bringing to swap!

Target Rain Boots

LL Bean Winter Coat

Dillard's Summer Hat

Target Cardigan / Necklace

Urban Outfitters Sweater

Love at first sight

As I was going through my closet looking for items I can swap this coming Saturday, I realized how many wonderful things I have thrifted over the years.  When I say thrifted, I don't mean a vintage/boutique store that already did the hunting and increased the price. I mean Goodwill, Salvation army, St. Vincent's thrift, and many more little shops in Abilene that I've spent hours in. Here are just a few of my favorite pieces that I've collected.

Yes, this is a sequin butterfly top, and it's amazing. I shrieked with joy when I found it.

Vintage dress that I fell in love with but doesn't fit me. I will either grow in to it one day, or I will pass it down to my kiddos.

Wonderfully crafted leather vest that fits like a glove.

Ah, my beloved Wrangler leotard.  This has come in handy for 80's parties and dance parties. Probably the most comfortable one-piece ever.

Let's SWAP

Hope and I finally get to introduce our upcoming event, The Collegiate Clothing Swap! The idea of this swap started last spring, and we are so excited to finally put on this event. Bring your clothes, shoes, and accessories to swap with great items from other fashionable college ladies. I want to thank the talented Casey Marchbanks for designing our logo and cute flyer! Please join us in Abilene on October 15! Email me at jessercoulter@gmail.com if you have any questions!
