The Bounceback

During this year's SXSW Festival, I had the pleasure of seeing my SIL's newest movie, The Bounceback, premiere. She was the producer for this hilarious movie, and did an AMAZING job!  I don't know anyone who works harder than this woman, and you can see it in the quality and hilarity of this film. The Bounceback was filmed in Austin, so if you're from here, you'll love seeing some of Austin's most iconic places (Alamo Drafthouse & the Broken Spoke to name a few).   The actors performed their roles to a T, but my favorite roles were played by the comedic duo Sara Paxton and Zach Cregger.  Now, before you watch the trailer, understand that it is R-rated, and isn't for the faint-hearted.  Check out their Facebook & Twitter pages to see when their next screening will be. They will be at the Dallas International Film Festival in two weeks!

Bloggers Unite

When tickets first went on sale for the 2012 TX Style Blogger Conference, I quickly rushed to buy mine.  By the time the conference came around, I honestly was very nervous and almost felt like backing out. Why? I don't know, maybe that scared insecure little girl inside of me saying...danger, danger...powerful, fashionable women that have amazing blogs.  Luckily the traffic, horrible weather, and my insecurities didn't keep my away.

I was nervous walking in to the first event, but I was instantly welcomed by warm smiles and wonderful conversation.  Every woman I met had a great story, and I left every night of the conference extremely excited I had made new fashion friends.  I was seriously giddy.  One of the biggest things I took away from the conference was, I don't have a passion for blogging, and I probably won't blog much longer.  Is it weird that I would attend an amazing blogging conference, and I would come away realizing I don't want to blog?  I don't think so.  I do enjoy telling my stories and talking about life and fashion, but it is becoming more of a hassle rather than a joy.  I experience a bit of anxiety when I think of quitting blogging cold turkey, but lately I have been blogging less and less.  I'm still not 100% sure what I want to do, but I did learn a good lesson from Kendi, "Your blog is not your purpose. Let it drive your purpose."  Thank you Indiana and staff for a wonderful conference, and the opportunity to meet some amazing women that all have meaningful stories to tell.

Here are a few pics that sum up the weekend.

Great swap presented by Swap.com & Lulus! I scored this awesome leopard print purse.

Got to meet the hilarious, Courtney Kerr.  I'm pretty much die laughing every time she has any commentary on Most Eligible Dallas.

Loved the PoshMark Party! I'm about to post a ton of my clothes on the new App.

Made new friendships with these ladies.

Over the weekend

Thankfully, I survived my first SXSW. Lately, I've realized that I've turned in to a homebody.  Large crowds, standing on my feet for more than an hour, and traffic is not appealing....some people might think I'm boring, but I simply enjoy relaxation after a long week at work.  Don't get me wrong, I still love to party : )  It just depends on the event and occasion.  Here's some snapshots of my weekend.

Hanging out @ The Austin Rodeo BBQ Cook-Off w/a team
 Republic Tequila Sponsored (BBQ Heaven)

My absolute favorite thing about carnivals!  Some might say I'm addicted to sugar.

Wearing green on St. Patrick's day

Celebrating my friend Kreg's Birthday at a Karaoke bar (kinda gross jello shots that came in syringes)

And something even grosser....this guy.

Sometimes you just need a good trip to Target.   I had to indulge in my favorite snack.

Dress Up

I had an absolute blast attending the Texas Style Conference this past weekend.  I will share some great stories and adventures with you this week, but first I want to share a little dress up time I had in my closet.  I played dress up all the time as a child, and I love when my nieces ask me to play.  Most of what we put on are my sis and I's old dance outfits.  It's always fun trying to fit into a little mermaid costume you wore when you were 7 years old...yikes.  Thankfully, Theresa of Tess Designs so kindly let me borrow one of her fabulous dresses for the Poshmark Party on Saturday night because my closet is pretty bare.  Here are a few I tried on.  Can you guess which one I decided to wear?

And the winner is....

I absolutely LOVE this dress.  Classic, flirty, and makes me feel like a Wwwoooooommmaannn.

Winning

I'm not sure how ready I am to experience SXSW for the first time as an Austin resident, but I know my sis-in-law, Megan, and my brother, Wes, are excited.  Wes is a musician/film guy and Megan is a producer, so this festival is right up their alley.  I don't think I've bought music since the Spice Girls released a reunion CD, and I don't see very many movies.

I'm super proud of Megan and her amazing talent. Where Soldiers Come From is a movie she produced, and it recently won a 2012 Independent Spirit Award! Maybe one day she'll take me along to an award show!

Super jealous they got to sit with Rashida Jones at their dinner table!  I love Parks & Rec and that vibrant dress.

Michelle Williams and her to die for pixie cut. Makes me want to cut all my hair off again.

Love this cute floral dress on Zoe Saldana. I'm ready for spring!
