Before and After: Twin Bed Frame

This weekend I did something I've never done before. I chose a bold paint color! I usually stay safe and always choose neutrals when it comes to my home decor and especially wall paint.  I had this old bed frame lying around and thought I would paint it for fun, maybe for Turner's future big boy room.  I have been seeing a lot of green lately, so I finally decided to take the plunge since it wouldn't kill me if I hated the color.

I went super kelly green, and chose Behr's Luck of The Irish paint.

What do you think? Do you incorporating bold colors in to your home?

Before and After: Master Bathroom

I'm excited to finally share with you my master bathroom renovation! Alex and I began the project last May, which then turned in to an insurance claim. Read all about it here. We did a lot of repairs on our own, and some things were completed by a contractor. It took about 3 months to complete, and I'm happy to say that I love my bathroom.  We have officially renovated both of our bathrooms in our home, and it has made a huge difference! See our guest bathroom renovation here.

You can see that the original bathroom did not have front doors and opened up in to our bedroom.  Mornings weren't fun when one of us had to get up early, cue bright lights to the face.  So, we added french doors for privacy. Another huge change was we took out the door and wall that were the entrance to the toilet/shower. Our bathroom feels ten times larger!

This has been by far our most expensive renovation project to date, but thanks to State Farm, it was much less expensive than if we had done it all by ourselves! Our next project will be finishing our kitchen (countertops, backsplash, new sink), but we have to do quite a bit of saving before we can start.

So, what do you think of the renovation? I hope you like it as much as I do!

BEFORE AND AFTER: Rocking Chair Makeover

I scored this beautiful and sturdy rocking chair on Craigslist for $25, but it needed an update.  I decided to paint it white (what I paint everything these days) using left over exterior paint from another project.  I had a pillow made (w/the help of my mom) using Bolt Fabric's waterproof outdoor material, which is perfect for outside decor! I love super easy projects like this, because it cost me next to nothing and it's like night and day.

I was perusing through an antique store (Antique Gallery of Round Rock) the other day when I realized I love the booths that have antique/vintage furniture in its original version.  When I approach a shabby chic booth or a booth that has repainted every piece of furniture, I usually walk away.  I like to see furniture in the raw and the original wood stain.  How about you?  What's your go to paint style? Shabby Chic? Modern? Any particular color?

Before And After: Turner's Nursery

Turner's room was the first room we painted in our new house, and we did it prior to moving in.  We wanted Turner to feel comfortable and settled in his new room.  The hunter green was scary and dark, and I hated everything about it.  I decided to stick with my handy dandy gray (Sherwin-Williams Passive), and I painted the trim and doors of the room white (Sherwin-Williams Snowbound).  It's weird to say that I've painted EVERY piece of brown trim in our entire house except for our bedroom/bathroom. I'm taking a break from painting for a few months after my last painting "vacation".

Here is a previous post of Turner's nursery in our apartment which lists where we bought all of the decor.  The bedroom isn't much different, except I do miss the big mirrors (perfect for selfies w/my little man).

Before & After: Living Room

Alex and I moved in to our first home a few months ago, and I want to share with you some of our progress.  We have decided to paint every inch of our house. I'm not joking when I say that. Every door, wall, cabinet and all the trim will be primed and painted.  Help us Jesus.

Here is a look in to our living room.  Below is a break down of our paint choices.

Trim/Shelving: Sherwin-Williams Snow Bound
Walls: Sherwin-Williams Passive
Back of Shelving: Sherwin-Williams Meditative

The layout of the living room is still up for consideration, and we'd like to get a bigger couch, more chairs, contemporary light fixtures, a rug and a few other items.  But at this time it's not a priority, so we'll be content with what we have.   Alex finally talked me in to getting him a "man" chair, but thankfully it was free from a friend, so I gave in.

I hope you enjoy our living room makeover. More to come of before & after projects!

Anyone have any good ideas as to what I should do with this giant wall?  It's the main focus of the living room, but I don't want to over crowd it either. HELP!

P.S. - Please excuse the filthy spotted carpet.  Alex tracked in mud one day, and decided to do the chicken dance all over the carpet.  I followed behind with a special soap I found on pinterest, but it ended up leaving splotches every where I cleaned. Any tips on how to remove soap stains?!
