We had such a great Halloween celebrating with friends! Friday was a crazy day. Don't try to plan a party the week you go out of town, and then schedule a haircut (highlights = 2 hours) just before the party starts. Bad planning on my part, but thankfully it came together. I was planning on being a nerd for Halloween, but as I was getting ready for work I decided to go as Sissy from Urban Cowboy because I already had everything in my closet I needed for the costume.
We started off the night with some trick or treating in the neighborhood with our favorite neighbors. Turner wanted to eat his candy immediately once receiving it from anyone that would give him some, so the trick or treating didn't last too long. One of the neighbors had a bounce house, so that was pretty awesome.
The night cooled off, and our friends started showing up for the party. I made my popular grape jelly meatballs, sausage/cheese dip, brownies/macaroons, and Vampire punch. The adult punch was a hit! Super easy and very delicious. The best costume award (a bottle of Deep Eddy Ruby Red) was given to my good friend Amy who handmade her Ariel costume, and we roasted s'mores by the fire. Alex's Ms. Doubtfire costume was also a big hit. Shopping for his costume was hilarious...oh man, trying to find a bra and skirt for him while onlookers stared was hilarious. I was nodding off by midnight, and had to be a party pooper and go to bed before everyone left. I knew I had to wake up around 6:30am to get ready for our family photos, so I didn't want to have huge bags under my eyes.
I feel truly blessed to have a wonderful group of friends surrounding me in this time of my life. Friends from early childhood, college buddies and neighbors that would help out with any need Alex and I might have.
