Halloween 2014

We had such a great Halloween celebrating with friends!  Friday was a crazy day.  Don't try to plan a party the week you go out of town, and then schedule a haircut (highlights = 2 hours) just before the party starts.  Bad planning on my part, but thankfully it came together.  I was planning on being a nerd for Halloween, but as I was getting ready for work I decided to go as Sissy from Urban Cowboy because I already had everything in my closet I needed for the costume.

We started off the night with some trick or treating in the neighborhood with our favorite neighbors. Turner wanted to eat his candy immediately once receiving it from anyone that would give him some, so the trick or treating didn't last too long.  One of the neighbors had a bounce house, so that was pretty awesome.

The night cooled off, and our friends started showing up for the party.  I made my popular grape jelly meatballs, sausage/cheese dip, brownies/macaroons, and Vampire punch.  The adult punch was a hit! Super easy and very delicious.  The best costume award (a bottle of Deep Eddy Ruby Red) was given to my good friend Amy who handmade her Ariel costume, and we roasted s'mores by the fire. Alex's Ms. Doubtfire costume was also a big hit.  Shopping for his costume was hilarious...oh man, trying to find a bra and skirt for him while onlookers stared was hilarious.  I was nodding off by midnight, and had to be a party pooper and go to bed before everyone left.  I knew I had to wake up around 6:30am to get ready for our family photos, so I didn't want to have huge bags under my eyes.

I feel truly blessed to have a wonderful group of friends surrounding me in this time of my life. Friends from early childhood, college buddies and neighbors that would help out with any need Alex and I might have.

Frohes Halloween

We had so much fun celebrating Halloween this year. I dressed up for work, and was the only one on my team that did.  Thankfully, my MOD costume almost looked like I would wear it on a normal day, so it wasn't too embarrassing.

Turner ended up having two costumes.  I bought him a giraffe costume that was 50% off at Joann Fabrics a few months prior, but then my father in law found a handmade german outfit at an estate sale.  The German culture holds a very special place in our family, since Alex and I became best friends while studying abroad in Austria.  Turner's lederhosen wouldn't have been complete without this original Hofbrauhaus stein from Munich Alex brought back.  My baby will only fit in these specific sizes once, and who knows if I'm going to have another boy, so two costumes it is.

We invited some friends over, snacked on homemade caramel marshmallow popcorn, pizza, and tons of dip while watching Hocus Pocus.  I was disappointed we didn't have more trick or treaters come to our door, so I guess that means Alex and I will have to eat all the leftover candy ; ) .

Was ist das?

Ich liebe Deutschland!

A nap and an outfit change later.

My friend Chelsey's infamous penguin costume was a hit!

Hello Creeper

Alex and I had a great weekend here in Austin running errands, eating out and relaxing before our weekends change drastically.  Friday we went dancing with friends, which I have missed so much since moving from Abilene. Two-stepping is a part of my soul, and I love putting on my boots and shuffling across a saw dust dance floor.  Later in the night we walked to some bars on dirty 6th, and I had an interesting conversation with a guy when Alex went to the bar to grab me a glass of water;

Creeper: Hey, come talk to me (motions for me to come over to his table)
Me: Umm, no. (as I rub my belly)
Creeper: Oh! Is the Dad in the picture?
Me: Yep (I point to Alex as he's walking back to the table)
Creeper: Whoa....he's f&*$@*? HUGE!
(He then proceeds to tell me how scared I should be for labor, because my baby is going to be huge)

I tell Alex never to leave me by myself at a bar, because I always get approached by the creepiest guys. Not the cute, well-groomed guys...just the weirdos.

L to R:
- Ready to go dancing
- Red corduroys I couldn't pass up for Turner
- Working an event for work..."Yes, I'm pregnant. Would you like a margarita?"
- Decorating the apartment for Halloween, my favorite holiday!

Halloween

Happy Halloween! My 2nd favorite holiday of the year.  Our Halloween party went perfect. Great friends, good food, dancing, camp fire in the back yard, and Hocus Pocus playing throughout the night. Here are a few pics of the costumes.

What to wear?

You might not know this, but I LOVE to dress up (in costumes I mean).  My friends and I are throwing a Halloween party this year and I'm uber excited for all the costumes.  I'm kind of regretting my costume choice, but I already bought the wig so there is no backing out now.  I am strongly against buying pre-packaged costumes. I would much rather go in to my closet and find inspiration for my outfit (probably beause I have a bunch of random/crazy crap in my closet).  Here are a few pics of costume parties I've been to over the past few years... I love these memories.
