Fess Up

Well, I'm going to be honest. I have not stuck with my $60 a month clothing budget lately.  Alex and I haven't really stuck to a budget at all in the past couple of months due to moving and job changes. Now that we both will have steady paychecks again, we realize it is time to start living on a budget.  Last night Alex had to wrangle me away from the Bachelor, yes I watch the bachelor, in to the kitchen to finally put a new budget together.  Unfortunately, I'm limited to $60 a month in clothing, and a strict entertainment/eating out budget.  We're trying to put as much as possible towards our school debt, which hopefully we will pay off in the next two years. Sometimes it's so hard to save, when you're not saving for something fun like a trip to Europe or a new car. We have to keep looking towards the goal of feeling such relief when we are debt free.

Here are a couple of new clothing items I got before making the budget...; )

Shirt/Blazer: Forever 21. Jeans: Fossil. Shoes: Steve Madden via Dillards (Gift Card)
Necklace: Jcrew via Ebay

I want to know how you save money? What's your advice on how to live on a tight budget?

Relaxing Weekend

This past weekend in Austin was the first I've had with no set plans, and it was perfect.  Friday, Alex and I bought way too much candy at the dollar store and saw The Descendants. Saturday, I tried to find a dress for my brother's wedding but was unsuccessful, and later that night met up with a good friend downtown.  Sunday, Alex and I stepped out of our apartment only once which was to attend a church that is literally 30 seconds away.  Searching for a church  reminds me of the nursery tale, Goldilocks and the Three Bears.  We have attended a few churches in Austin, but some are too hot and some are too cold.  I'm sure we will find one that fits us perfectly, but it will take some time.  This is a huge city.

I snapped one pic of my saturday outfit while shopping.

Shirt/Jeans: Gap Outlet. Sweater: Forever 21. Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell via Urban Outfitters

Geeks who Drink

Last Sunday night some friends and I went to trivia at The Highball downtown.  We might have gotten last place...or close.  We had subjects like baseball, geography, and most TV questions covered but everything else we bombed.  When they said ,"Geeks who drink", they REALLY meant it.  I'll stick with bowling and karaoke next time.

Sorry for the iPhone pics this week. Couldn't get any before dark.

Jacket: Francesca's. Top: Forever 21. Jeans: Banana Republic. Shoes: Steve Madden via Ross

Fashion for Less #9

As I head back to Austin once again this weekend, I'm looking forward to seeing my brother's band, Hundred Visions, play at the Mohawk on Friday night.  I learned early on that when going downtown in Austin during the winter you must a.) where comfortable shoes b.) bring a coat.  For me, there is nothing worse than being cold.  So, this outfit below is perfect.  I've been loving all black outfits lately, probably because I just finished the latest season of Rachel Zoe.

P.S. - This outfit is just over $100, I couldn't budge on the sweater price.
Rock 'N' Roll

I fell in love with these green shorts the second I saw them.  Adding a nice pop of color in the winter is always nice.  Pair them with a sweater and some military boots and you've got a "sassy" outfit as Alex would like to say.
