Cinco De Mayo

This past weekend Alex and I were finally able to take a trip back to Abilene! It was the first time I'd visited since I graduated in December.  I was able to celebrate Cinco De Mayo with friends, and visit my old church (man...I seriously miss it).  Alex and I stayed with our best buds, Sierra and Grant. It's always fun when we get together, because we can laugh and joke about marriage.  I miss the relaxed atmosphere of a small town and no traffic!

Pedicure w/Sierra....they wrapped these crazy hot washcloths around our calves.
Goofy looking but felt amazing!

Tried the Necklace test to see if we could get a hint on the gender.
Got a boy one time, and a girl the next.

Enjoyed some Republic Tequila Margaritas (I sadly had to decline)

Over the weekend

Thankfully, I survived my first SXSW. Lately, I've realized that I've turned in to a homebody.  Large crowds, standing on my feet for more than an hour, and traffic is not appealing....some people might think I'm boring, but I simply enjoy relaxation after a long week at work.  Don't get me wrong, I still love to party : )  It just depends on the event and occasion.  Here's some snapshots of my weekend.

Hanging out @ The Austin Rodeo BBQ Cook-Off w/a team

My absolute favorite thing about carnivals!  Some might say I'm addicted to sugar.

Wearing green on St. Patrick's day

Celebrating my friend Kreg's Birthday at a Karaoke bar (kinda gross jello shots that came in syringes)

And something even grosser....this guy.

Sometimes you just need a good trip to Target.   I had to indulge in my favorite snack.
 Pretzel + Cherry Icee

Texas our Texas

Last Friday, I celebrated Texas Independence Day with my company and many other people across the state.  I traveled to Gonzales, TX where the Texas Revolution began and was able to meet some wonderful small town people at the Chamber of Commerce breakfast.  Once they heard I was from the "big city" they even took me on a tour of the town.  I'm not usually in to history, but I seriously was amazed by this tiny town.

On the trip back I spotted these cute guys, Jerusalem donkeys, on the
side of the road!

The "Come and Take It" cannon that started it all.  I would have thought it was bigger, it only weighs 6 lbs.

Last stop of the night was a tasting at Oak Liquor Cabinet. Cheers! When I walked through my front door on Friday night, I pretty much collapsed on the floor. I stuffed about 4 pieces of pizza in my mouth, and slept till 11am the next morning (that never happens...the sleeping late part).

Saturday my parents came in to town so my Dad could by a banjo, and get his computer fixed.  He's kind of obsessed with his banjos.

If you know me, you know I am obsessed with crepes. I could seriously eat them for every meal. This weekend I was finally able to try out Cafe Crepe in Austin, and of course I was not disappointed. You can't really mess up a thin pancake covered with nutella, strawberries, and whip cream.

Here's to a productive week! The weather is gorgeous and all I want to do is take a nap in a park.

Eat. Work. Sleep.

Sorry for being MIA this past week.  Work has been extremely busy, and this past weekend I never got around to taking any photos. Not even on my phone, which usually never happens.

I hope everyone celebrated National Margarita Day yesterday!  The weather was absolutely beautiful here in Austin, and today it's going to hit 90 degrees...whoo hoo. I'm definitely going to try to have lunch outside today.  I desperately need to revamp my closet with spring items.  I spent 15 minutes staring at my clothes this morning.  Have a great day!

Working hard to prepare for Texas Independence Day!

Night Out

The Tess Dress Spring Trunk Show at Austin's downtown boutique Etcetera, etc. last thursday was a ton of fun! It was great to hang out with such sweet and funny women.  I wore my Eloise skirt that I won from Grechen's giveaway, and I loved it. So comfy and versatile.

Republic Tequila cocktails...yum (Spirit Blends + ice + Tequila = sweet & low cal margarita)

My family was able to pop in since they were in town for the wedding.
Mom, Gram, niece, and sister.

Theresa, owner of Tess Designs, and my mom. My mom loved Theresa's designs, and ended up buying two outfits.

It was great meeting D'Andra of Sable & Sage. Now, I have a meet up buddy for the TX Style Conference.

Amazing desserts prepared by Bake Sale Austin.  When Alex stopped by to say hi, I told him he could grab a treat, he then quietly whispered in to my ear, "I can't. It's a bake sale, and I don't have any cash." Haha, he didn't realize the name of the company was Bake Sale, I'm sure they get that a lot.

Tess Designs Trunk Show

Fellow Austin bloggers, meet me here! Come out for amazing clothes, yummy treats, and a good time!

Tess Designs is joining forces with exclusive boutique Etcetera, etc. (located in Austin’s vibrant 2nd Street District) for a special Valentine’s evening – a trunk show featuring dress fittings, sweet treats and signature cocktails.

The full complement of Tess dresses will be available, along with the playful separates collection of mix-and-match blouses and swing skirts in lipstick pink – perfect for Valentine’s Day! You will also have the exclusive opportunity to pre-order the Tess spring collection, in production now.

The Tess spring collection for 2012 was inspired by the bright, vibrant tones of rose petals and the gorgeous array of silks and prints that designer Theresa Kopecky has selected: from Tiffany-inspired Art Nouveau roses twining along the hem of a full-skirted silk dress to the strong, geometric lines of a black-and-white gingham.

All Tess garments will be available at incredible prices for this evening only, and visitors will have the opportunity to sample dainty pastries and mini-tarts handmade by Austin’s own Bake Sale (featured in TRIBEZA’s ‘Romance Issue’ this month as a not-to-miss sweet treat), complemented by a signature pink cocktail courtesy of Republic Tequila.

This exciting local fashion event will take place on 9 February from 5pm to 9pm, at the Etcetera, etc. boutique on 411 West 2nd Street.

Perks

Getting to wear jeans to work is seriously amazing!  Now, I do like to change it up and wear dresses, skirts, or nice pants every once in a while, but I am a jeans kind of girl.  I own quite a few pairs, but lately I've been wearing bootcut.  A woman should always have a pair of dark boot cut and skinny jeans in her closet.  Gap is my go to because their jeans always seem to fit my behind the best.  I've got quite a bit of area to cover ; ).

Casual Day

Since my company is geared toward the Texan theme, I love wearing cowboy boots.  I usually wear my boot cuts with a flowy top and a blazer/cardigan over it to make the look more professional.  I have two pairs of Justin boots, black and brown, and they are wonderful! I would advise every woman to have a good pair of boots in her closet. Perfect for dancing, working cattle (it's been a while for me), and dressing up a pair of jeans.  Sometimes when I got out with friends, I don't want to put on heels because I know my feet will be killing me the whole night, which of course takes away from the fun.  Boots are the perfect solution. And ladies, please don't buy those cheap "fashionista" boots. It's totally worth it to go to a local boot shop and buy a quality pair that will last for years.  I've had my brown boots since I was 16, and they are still going strong.

Urban Cowboy

Everyday Friday

I love many things about my new job, and not having to wear dress slacks stands out on my love list.  Business professional attire is not only expensive (dry cleaning bills), but can get quite boring over time.  Now, I can dress more casual and spend my money on clothes that I not only can wear to work but out at night and on the weekends.  Plus, I'm more comfortable.  I'm definitely a jean girl, so I'm on a mission to find some cute tops and blazers that will make jeans a bit more professional.

P.S. - Meet my apartment stairs. This is as far as I could get Alex to go to take these pics.  I have to bribe him with lunch and the fact that we won't be driving across town for scenery.

Back to work

Today is my first official day as the Marketing Manager of Republic Tequila in Austin, TX.  I will be in charge of marketing, events, social media, PR and working along side the design team to create advertising campaigns.  I am beyond excited to work for such an amazing company.  Republic Tequila produces 100% organic tequila and packages it in amazing Texas shaped bottles.  It will be quite a commute, but it will be fun to work downtown in a historic Austin home just near the capital. These past 3 weeks of vacation were nice, but I'm ready to get back to work!

Here is an advertising campaign of Republic Tequila...I love it!

This is the CEO and my boss, Tom Nall. It's good to know I'll be working for a man that reminds me of my Dad.
