Birthday Day Date

Alex will be turning 28 this Saturday, and we decided the only way we would be able to spend some quality alone time together for more than an hour or two would be to take a day date. Thank the Lord for daycare. I took a ton of pics during the day so I thought it would be fun to recap the day!

1st Stop: Gun Range

Alex always wants me to go to the gun range with him, and it's just not up my alley. So for his birthday I decided that the one main activity I wanted to do with him was go shooting. I felt extremely uncomfortable and stressed the entire time. I don't like shooting around other people I don't know in a confined space, but we still had a good time.

2nd Stop: Lunch at La Barbecue Food Truck

We then headed to downtown Austin to get in line at 10:30am for the famous La Barbecue food truck. We waited about 30 minutes and we chatted most of the time about what we were going to order. We decided on a beef rib, sausage link, chopped beef sandwich, and a side of potato salad...the bill was $70! It was amazing bbq but I wouldn't spend that much on it again. The beef rib meat fell right off the bone (very salty and fatty).

3rd stop: Drinks at Perla's

We drove to South Congress because the weather was gorgeous (80 degrees, sunny and a breeze), and we wanted to enjoy a drink oustide. Alex was craving a bloody mary so we chose Perla's, which has the perfect patio. I had a champagne cocktail, which I couldn't even finish half. I'm a lightweight and was feeling it after a few sips. We people watched and then stopped in a few shops.

4th Stop: Couples Reflexology/Chair Massage

We wanted to make sure we had enough time to pick up Turner and not get stuck in traffic, so we headed back to the suburbs. I had heard amazing things about Sam's Serenity Massage at the mall near our house, so we decided to get a reflexology/chair massage treatment (which was super cheap)! You can't get that kind of a deal in downtown Austin. Afterwards we grabbed a cookie at the Great American Cookie Co. (Sugar is my favorite), and headed to pick up Turner from school. Then we picked up the babies at our neighbor's.

The day went by so quick, but it was soooo nice getting to spend some one on one time with Alex. I've really missed him. We rarely get to have in depth conversations, or just chat in general because the second he walks through the door after work it's all hands on deck with the kids before bedtime. By the time it's 9/9:30pm, we are both EXTREMELY exhausted and want to go to sleep. Cheers to another year of life!

Turner's 2nd Birthday Wishlist

Turner's 2nd birthday is quickly approaching (October 19th), I'm having so much fun planning his party!  His wish list this year is similar to his 1st birthday wish list , but I know he'll enjoy his presents more this year.

1. Clothes (this is more what I want...obviously) Camp Wolf Pendleton Vest / Adidas Samba Sneaker / Pom Pom Beanie
2. Any ball known to man - Seriously, this kids loves balls. He freaks out every time he sees one, and loves playing soccer with me in the backyard.
3. Trucks, trucks and more trucks
4. Kid's workbench - Turner loves being in the garage with Alex, and I know he would love his own workbench.  Heaven knows I would feel better if he was playing with plastic tools rather than Alex's tools.
5. Books - One of Turner's favorite books (other than every truck book) is his nursery rhyme book.  I sing almost 10-15 nursery rhymes a night (most nursery rhymes are extremely weird), and half of them I make up the tune because I have no idea how they really sound.  I just started collecting halloween books for Turner, and I can't wait to add more holiday books to our collection.

Twenty-Seven

Celebrating another year of life today! It has been an amazing and exhausting year.  I have definitely grown as a person thanks to becoming a mom just 5 days before my last birthday.  I pray to have another healthy and happy year as a 27 year old!

I am a bit biased towards my birthday month because it involves many of my favorite things; fall, halloween, football season (mainly homecoming), Turner's birthday, pumpkin everything, crisp air and amazing memories of birthday celebrations with friends and family.  Alex and I took Turner to a local pumpkin patch last Sunday, but he wasn't amused.  Big weird looking orange things that don't do anything.  They probably wouldn't entertain me either.  Now the petting zoo, that was entertaining.

Celebrating 25

Happy Birthday to my favorite man! He's the big 2-5 today.  I asked him how he felt about being in his mid-20s and he responded with, "eh." A man of many words, well at least he usually is. He bugged me all last night before bed to give him his birthday present early, and then woke me up at 4:30am, and asked again. He seriously has the patience of a 5 year old when it comes to gifts ; ) This morning I finally gave him his gift, which was a Jon Hart shave kit with his initials.   I have one more surprise in store for him today that I can't wait for him to get.  I love gift giving and especially a good surprise! We're going to try a new restaurant tonight, Contigo, with my bro and SIL while my good friend watches Turner.  Here's to another great year Mr. Coulter!  You're my best friend, and I thank the Lord you were born on this day 25 years ago.

Turning 2

This past weekend was all about one little girl, Miss Ella Ray. She turned 2, and we celebrated with cupcakes, playing in the dirt, and a ton of presents. I'm already the boring Aunt that gave her clothes, but she needed them and they were super cute. My mom's gift however, a Disney Princess bicycle, kicked my gift to the curb.

Sister got Pinterest crazy and made this as well as 3 recipes for the party.
Maybe I'll make use of all my pins one day, probably not.
Got my hair did....VERY short in the back. Alex said he feels like he's
hugging a boy when he's the big spoon ; )

Happy Birthday

Today we're celebrating Alex's 24th birthday and his first official day at Apple.  He had to chug some NyQuil before bed to sleep through the night...he's a bit excited. We're going to celebrate with some Greek food & a store bought cake ; ) Here's to a great week!

Ich liebe dich!

11.11.11

Today is an important day, not only is the date 11.11.11 but it's my Mom's birthday!  I'm in Austin this weekend celebrating with family. Not only is my mom my fashion icon but she's also one of the most caring and patient women I know.  I know this because she put up with me for 18 years, and still to this day....I might have been that wild child (my nickname was Messy Jesse people). Here's to all those amazing mothers out there who can put up with the stress of crazy children and still be fashionable and beautiful!

This is a good pic explaining our relationship : )

25 today

Well, it's my 25th birthday. I think this year is going to be a good one.  I celebrated my birthday w/friends and family in Austin this past wkd.  Dinner, cover bands + dancing, Rangers, shopping, and a big bbq lunch with my immediate family.

Practical vs. Want

So as my birthday approaches (Oct. 24), Alex asked me to provide a list of items I want for my birthday so that he could pick from them. Ah, it's like an internet shopping spree except you know your not getting all of it, sad day. I personally would like cash so I can conquer the outlet mall, but he doesn't want to do it that way. As I've gotten older I've realized that I should probably asks for things that I need since I don't have just tons of cash lying around, so now I am torn between asking for something I want and something that's more practical.

Here are a few items on my WANT list.

And here are a few items on my PRACTICAL list. I'm out of moisturizer and blush, and I need a starbucks giftcard so I can stop wasting my money on water every time I go to study. I don't drink coffee, so I just buy ethos water so the baristas don't get mad at me.  My black work flats have holes in them, and I need a black belt for my boring dress slacks.

I kind of just want to knix this whole list all together and say put the money in our savings account. I want to save up to buy a new couch, bath towels, and bedding. Man, I'm getting old and boring. Or maybe just wise and practical?
