30th Birthday Wish List

It's my favorite month of the year, OCTOBER! You add perfect weather, Texas football/volleyball, Halloween, Turner's birthday and my birthday and you've got a fun month FULL of activities!

This year I'll be turning 30! I think a few years back I dreaded the day I turned thirty, but it doesn't bother me now because I still feel so young at heart. My family is complete and I feel lucky to live this life every day.  Alex and I are heading to Houston in a few weekends to celebrate, but in the mean time I'm thinking of all the presents I want...because ya' know 30 is a big one so I might as well treat myself! Obviously I won't be getting all of these, but it's fun to dream!

1. Being pampered is always high on my list. I think a facial and massage would be perfect!

2. Love the size and color of this Gigi New York cross-body purse.

3. Clad & Cloth navy gingham top. You can never own too much gingham!

4. Aldo over the knee brown boots for Fall

5. I've heard amazing things about the book Love Warrior. Maybe I'll have time to read it on my next work trip.

6. Jcrew Factory striped sweater

7. You might think I'm crazy, but I think the #1 wish for my birthday is to have ALL of the tile and grout in my home cleaned (including bathrooms). That birthday wish definitely makes me 30!

8. I'm obsessed with wood and clay necklaces, and love this Wilde Bloem necklace.  I'm allergic to metal so I can't wear most jewelry. These necklaces are a lifesaver and affordable.

My Must Have Summer Shoe

I pulled the trigger and purchased my first pair of Birkenstocks 2 years ago, and it might be one of the best purchases of I've ever made! If you haven't owned a pair, you are probably wondering what all the hype is about, but believe me...they are worth every penny! I own this silver pair and my host daughter gifted me this gold pair from Germany for my birthday. Birks are the perfect sandal to have in your closet, especially if you value quality over quantity. They go with most outfits, are durable and extremely comfy. If you are going on vacation and are trying to pack light these are your go-to shoes. I bought these specifically to wear when Alex and I went on a trip to California, and I wore them site seeing every day! No, this is not a sponsored post, I just love them that much. You can find links to my favorite styles and colors below!

I'm noticing a trend with my style. Boy friend jeans + simple top + chunky heels + a light jacket. A recipe for a super easy and comfortable outfit! I picked up this pair of boyfriend jeans from American Eagle a few months ago and have been raving about how amazing they are ever since! I hadn't stepped in an American since I was 17, but I was pleasantly surprised to find jeans that fit so well. I tend to wear them with heels to dress them up a bit (chunky/low heels to be exact because you won't find this girl in a heel more than 2 1/2 inches). I've linked the jeans below and some other awesome options that are very affordable. These I'm wearing are only $30 right now!

ATX Blogger Mixer Recap

Erica and I had an absolute blast at the 6th ATX Blogger Mixer! The time and effort it takes in planning this event is so worth it, because we know the outcome. A few hours of great conversation, meeting bloggers you follow but have never met, and truly creating quality relationships. Jessi from the Darling Detail was our guest speaker, and spoke about her success and career as a blogger. I think everyone left energized and motivated, as she spoke about finding purpose outside of blogging and using your platform to further your purpose and goals.

Cove boutique graciously hosted us in their chic and modern store located in the heart of South Congress. Thank you to all our sponsors!

Austin Fashion Week 2016 Recap

I was super excited to get a few free nights last week to attend Austin Fashion Week (thanks to Alex and my Mom for watching the kiddos)! I had just gone back to work so I didn't have a lot of extra time to get my hair done so I had a blowout at Vent Blotique and it lasted both nights I attended. What's funny is that unintentionally before each show I had burgers. The last thing I wanted to be was hungry at a fashion show. Who cares about the food baby ruining my figure anyway.

Both nights I saw amazing collections by project runway stars and local designers. Some of my favorites were Lindsey Creel and Katie Kime. I sipped on prosecco from the event sponsor, Chloe Wine Collection, and I couldn't stop staring at all the beautiful and unique outfits the attendees were wearing. It was a people watcher's dream! Night one I chatted with a lot of my fellow Austin bloggers, and night two my beautiful neighbor, Olivia, joined me. It was a great Mom's night out, and a few people were in shock when we told them how many kids we have. We still got it girl!

Thank you to Fashion X Austin and Pom PR for another great event! Here's to next year!

Hair done and burgers to go...feeling good!

The man of the night. I'm not kidding you when I say EVERY woman in the place was cheering when this guy walked down the runway. Hello silver fox!

4th ATX Blogger Mixer

Erica and I have been working hard to bring you the 4th ATX Blogger Mixer! The event will be held on Thursday, August 6 at Austin's luxury boutique FOUND from 6-8pm! Enjoy complimentary appetizers, sweets by Simon Lee Bakery, and cocktails by Austin Cocktails. We're excited to have the talented Kelly Wynne, owner of Kelly Wynne Handbags, as our guest speaker. We'll have some amazing giveaways from Mirror Mirror SalonBeaded by W, Melissa Glynn Photography and a Kelly Wynne Handbag! The event is free, please RSVP here!

During the planning stages of our mixers, there are definitely times when Erica and I become very weary and a bit over it, BUT we remember how fun the previous event was and know it will all be worth it! We love the feedback we get from bloggers when they tell us how much they loved the mixer, and how they formed true relationships with other bloggers. It's fun to have a night out with friends that really "get" you and blogging. They understand your creative mind, and many inspire you to be more creative and tap in to the big ideas and dreams that you've been putting off. We've had many women attend our mixers that don't even have a blog, but are inspired to start one and they just want to ask questions and be inspired.  I give those ladies a pat on the back for having the courage to show up. It can be pretty intimidating in a room full of bloggers, some very big and some not, but that's ok!

If you are in Austin, and want a fun night out with some of the most creative, inspiring, and entrepreneur minded women in the city...please join us! I promise you will be welcomed by a room of friendly faces. Check out #ATXBloggerMixer for previous event photos.

My favorite time of the year is here...shorts and sandal weather! My polka dot Loft shorts from last season are on rotation, and as you can see I'm mixing with my favorite color....gray.

If you are on the hunt for a pair of RayBan Aviators, yet can't fork over $150, check out Forever 21 or PacSun. I scored these for $7 from the PacSun outlet, and I love them!

Spring is here and the TX heat is coming, so I've been purchasing comfy dresses that are casual but can be dressed up for a night out with friends or date night.  I also think dresses are great for active moms and anyone who doesn't like picking out an outfit, because you can throw them on last minute and look put together. I've been finding some really great deals this season, which proves you really don't have to spend an arm and a leg to find fashionable clothing.

Dress: Old Navy ($24)  Shoes: Target
Dress: Gap ($30) Shoes: Target. Necklace: Nordstrom Rack
Skort: Abercrombie & Fitch ($20). Tee: A&F . Heels: Chelsea Crew via Creature's Boutique (Get them here in tan)

Austin Fashion Week: STARS Runway Show

I attended my last event at Austin Fashion Week last Friday night, the STARS Runway Show featuring 8 of Project Runway's top designers. I picked up my blogger bestie, Erica, and we headed downtown. Straightening my curly hair wasn't a great idea as it began to pour the second I left my house, but I embraced my frizz. I chose to wear this comfy a-line skirt and a crop top to keep it simple.

Top: Forever 21. Skirt: Express. Shoes: Chelsea Crew via Creature's Boutique. Clutch: Thrifted.

Kaleigh, Michelle, Brittany & Celine - These ladies are wonderful. I wish we had more time to talk!

Oh my goodness, the La Miniatura by Jeffrey Sebelia show was amazing and these little boys make me want to NEVER cut Turner's hair. I also need to get him a suit asap. I used to watch Project Runway religiously, and Jeffrey was one of my favorite designers of all time.  I was excited to see him in person!

One of my favorite parts of the night was catching up with amazing Austin bloggers and meeting new faces (well, not really because I already followed most of them on Instagram). We have a wonderful community of bloggers in our city, and it feels like a very small world!

I can't wait till next year's fashion week! I'm sure it is going to be bigger and better.

Austin Fashion Week: Discovery Runway Show

It was my first time to attend a runway show last Thursday, and Austin Fashion Week did not disappoint.  I had a front row seat with my girl Emilie, and absolutely loved seeing the work of up and coming designers.  The rain thankfully stopped right before the event, and I wore my favorite new skort....so comfy.

Top: Vince Camuto. Skort: Abercrombie and Fitch (only $20 right now). Wedges: DV by Dolce Vita via Nordstrom.

Emilie from Fashion Conspiracy
Designer Tinsley Radix - Obsessed with the sequin dress!
Designer Caycee Black

Mysterious by NPN
My favorite designer of the night was Mysterious by NPN. Loved the gorgeous gowns and how the hats increased in size with each model.
After the show, we headed upstairs to the VIP area and scarfed our face in THE MOST amazing desserts. Macarons, cream puffs, petit fours, cake balls, chocolate covered oreos, mini eclairs and more...ahhh, sugar coma.

Austin Fashion Week Kickoff

I attended Austin Fashion Week's Kickoff event last Friday at Speakeasy. What an amazing venue...3 levels, bowling, an amazing rooftop deck, and located in the heart of downtown Austin on Congress between 5th & 6th. The place was absolutely packed but had a great vibe. Models were style based off different eras and making their way through the venue showing off their looks...I was obsessed with the model from the 70's (see event photos here).

I attended the event solo, but knew I would run in to some of my favorite Austin bloggers - Jennifer & Melissa from Seek Wander Share, Dani Austin, Erica Louie, Ashley HargroveCourtney Shields, and Kaleigh.  I had a blast chatting with everyone!

Jumpsuit: Loft. Shoes: Creatures Boutique. Clutch: Lulu's

With the lovely Jennifer & Melissa from Seek Wander Share

Right as Erica and I were about to leave, we were asked if we wanted some free champagne. Uhh...of course! So, we headed to the roof top, and ended up being a part of a promo video for the venue. Random, but fun. Erica and I got to spend some quality time chatting about our next ATX Blogger Mixer, and we are super excited!

I'm looking forward to more events this week. I'll be at the DISCOVER and STARS fashion shows...you can still grab tickets here! Follow me on Instagram for more event pics.

#JESSECOULTER - No. 7

As you can tell, my Gap camo jacket has gotten a lot of good use lately. Texas weather is finicky this time of year, so I love to wear this jacket on cool mornings (it's 80 by noon). It's not the camo I really ike, but the comfy material and perfect amount of warmth. I wish I had the exact same jacket in tan or gray.

Jacket : Gap. Tee: Forever 21. Jeans: Old Navy Rockstar Skinnies. Boots: Gap. Necklace: Handmade
Jacket: Gap. Tee: ASOS. Shorts: Handmade. (thrifted men's Levi's 501 - see my DIY tutorial HERE) Shoes: Target.
