4th ATX Blogger Mixer
#JESSECOULTER - No. 11
I'm finally getting used to wearing a hat....kind of. I'm not used to seeing myself in hats so it's weird. Do you wear hats? I definitely think people should wear them more often. Perfect for bad hair days and good for keeping the sun off your face.
What are your plans this weekend? Tonight I'm heading to a friends apartment to hang out by the pool with the family. Saturday, I'm hitting up BodyPump super early, heading to the Personify Austin blogger brunch downtown, and then working on some home projects the rest of the weekend. I'll also be taking over HomeRight's Instagram for the weekend, so follow along for some paint tips, DIY projects and decor inspiration.

#JESSECOULTER - No.8
Spring is here and the TX heat is coming, so I've been purchasing comfy dresses that are casual but can be dressed up for a night out with friends or date night. I also think dresses are great for active moms and anyone who doesn't like picking out an outfit, because you can throw them on last minute and look put together. I've been finding some really great deals this season, which proves you really don't have to spend an arm and a leg to find fashionable clothing.

New Haircut At Waterstone Salon
I showed a picture of Carey Mulligan's adorable hair to Sam, my stylist at Waterstone Salon, and she made my short hair dreams come true. Y'all she is amazing! Waterstone also has On-Site Babysitting...hallelujah. Turner loved playing in their children's room, and it was such a relief to not have to find someone to watch Turner so I could be pampered.

Austin Moms Blog Photo Shoot
Last night I headed to downtown Austin for an Austin Moms Blog photo shoot with Laura Morsman photography . Our attire was supposed to involve denim, boots and summer colors. This is the best outfit I could come up with. On the plus side these shorts felt like pajamas with an elastic waist band. I would have liked to run to the store and picked up a whole new outfit as well as have a blow out, but this momma is on a budget. I've got a major master bathroom renovation going on.
I love the Austin skyline, and as you can see it's continuing to grow as more and more buildings go up every day. I've also become quite fond of jumping pictures. The toothpick pose might be my favorite. If I was as flexible and agile as I was in high school, I might be able to pull of a hurkey or pike, but I'm pretty sure my back would go out if I tried it.
Top: Gap
Shorts: Billabong Outlet
Boots: Justin
Jewelry: Kendra Scott (borrowed for the shoot)
Put A Blazer On It
My ASOS peplum top has become my most worn and favorite tee in my wardrobe. I've dressed it down here, and dressed it up with this outfit. I wore this to a dinner for Austin Mom's Blog contributors. Mexican food, great cocktails and new mommy friends who enjoy blogging, couldn't be better.
Casual Peplum
Meet my new favorite tee! I have loved the peplum trend, but haven't been able to find the right length or material till I struck gold with this top. The best part about it is I can stuff my face with food and my belly has all the space in the world. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy it in every color.
True story about the purse I'm carrying. Alex gave it to me for my birthday, 7 months ago, but last weekend I finally decided to use it. Honestly, it sat so beautifully in my closet, untouched that I didn't want to carry it for the longest time. I waited for the perfect spring day to change purses.
Top: Asos
Shorts: Levis

Sunday Best
I realized last minute before Easter I had zero spring dresses in my closet (aka I was really bored of the dresses I owned). I found this dress at Altar'd State and fell in love, the only problem was the length was a tad too short my taste, especially since I was going to be wearing it to church. An employee pointed out a skirt slip that added just enough length my dress, plus it is a half slip so you can move it up and down your waistline depending on the length of your dress. I love the texture it added to my outfit. Alex of course called me out on it in church saying "Is your slip supposed to showing like that!?" I know I'm going to get much use out of this purposely exposed slip.

90 Day No Shopping Challenge Complete!
- Stepping away from the emails. In the beginning I was still receiving retail emails daily on specific sales. I quickly learned I could not handle looking at those everyday, so I unsubscribed from all of my retail websites.
- Staying away from clothing stores. On the weekends, I like to spend a few hours of my baby-free time shopping or at least window shopping. During the challenge, I found it very hard to window shop knowing that in 3 months that top I loved might not be there, so I had to find a new weekend activity (insert estate sales).
- This challenge has helped me to realize what essential items I want (I really hate to use the word, need, when it comes to clothes) in my closet that can build a great wardrobe, and also help me to focus on the specific pieces of clothing I want to save for. It was a great time to start the challenge, because I became a thrifting fool of furniture and home decor, and it was nice to have that extra money to spend on our house.
- It can wait. There were a few times during the challenge I saw an item of clothing that I felt I just had to have, BUT I had to walk away. The only thing that gave me the strength to walk away was the challenge. I was able to practice self restraint numerous times. Many items I saw have come and gone in my mind, but a few have stuck out. If I'm still dreaming about them they will likely be great additions to my wardrobe.
1. Anthropologie Tunic $48 - I find myself wearing plain t-shirts every weekend, so this tee is perfect to add a bit more detail and get more of a put together look.
2. Lotta T-Bar Clogs $78 - These have great reviews, and are less pricey than other popular brands. These would be perfect to dress up a pair of boyfriend jeans or a simple cotton dress.
3. Fossil Chambray Popover $88 - I've always loved denim, and I've been living in my Gap denim pearl snap (I remember buying it for $50 6 years ago, and worrying I spent too much money on it. That is definitely not the case now, because I have washed it over and over and it still has maintained its quality)
4. Jeffrey Campbell Ibiza Sandal $55 - Simple and versatile enough to throw on with a pair of shorts or a casual dress
5. Fossil Slim Boyfriend Jean $98 - I live in jeans. I probably wear jeans 4 out of 7 days a week. I've got slim pickins right now in my closet, so this will definitely be my first purchase after the challenge.
6. ASOS Smock Dress $40 - It's finally warming up here in Texas, and I'm ready to wear dresses again. This dress looks comfy enough to lounge around in on the weekends or dress up for dinner with friends.
7. Toms Classic $54 - I have worn my gray Toms in to the ground. They're covered in paint and my big toe is poking through. I feel a bit white trash when I wear them out, but they are so comfy. It's about time I replace them.
I would definitely be up for doing the challenge again, maybe next time a full year?! Did you participate in the challenge? If so, how did you do?!
I'm Just A Love Machine
Tonight, we don't have much planned since Alex has to work from home. I'm going to cook his favorite meal, and Saturday night we're going to try a new restaurant and go dancing (I so miss two-stepping). This year we decided not to get each other any physical gifts like last year, but flowers/chocolate/cards aren't off the table. Funny story...Last night, as Alex and I were talking he began craving something sweet. I began to explain how crazy the grocery store was earlier that night, and how I couldn't believe the amount of chocolate covered strawberries they were selling. A few minutes later, Alex jumps off the couch and runs out to the garage, returning with chocolate covered strawberries from that exact grocery store. "Happy Valentine's Day" he says with a big smirk on his face, and then proceeds to eat one. Not sure if they were for him or me, either way I'll be finishing them off tonight.
I'm looking forward to a weekend of house cleaning, projects and warm weather!
