Nostalgic New Balance

Alex and I went on a last minute date last weekend, and it included two of my favorite things...eating and shopping. We ate at my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant, Dos Salsas, and then hit up Academy and Target.  I spotted these green New Balance sneakers from across the aisle at Academy and knew they had to be mine (only $40)!

Austin Fashion Week: STARS Runway Show

I attended my last event at Austin Fashion Week last Friday night, the STARS Runway Show featuring 8 of Project Runway's top designers. I picked up my blogger bestie, Erica, and we headed downtown. Straightening my curly hair wasn't a great idea as it began to pour the second I left my house, but I embraced my frizz. I chose to wear this comfy a-line skirt and a crop top to keep it simple.

Oh my goodness, the La Miniatura by Jeffrey Sebelia show was amazing and these little boys make me want to NEVER cut Turner's hair. I also need to get him a suit asap. I used to watch Project Runway religiously, and Jeffrey was one of my favorite designers of all time.  I was excited to see him in person!

#JESSECOULTER - No. 7

As you can tell, my Gap camo jacket has gotten a lot of good use lately. Texas weather is finicky this time of year, so I love to wear this jacket on cool mornings (it's 80 by noon). It's not the camo I really ike, but the comfy material and perfect amount of warmth. I wish I had the exact same jacket in tan or gray.

#JESSECOULTER - No. 4

You can see through the progression of my outfits below that it's warming up quite a bit in Texas, and I'm LOVING it! Bring on the heat. I'll take a 100 degree day any day over the cold. I'm currently online window shopping for Spring, specifically my trip to Hawaii in June.  I've never been one to enjoy bathing suit shopping, but this year I'm going to invest. I've worn the same bathing suit since my honeymoon almost 5 years ago.

#JesseCoulter - No. 2

Here's another round of #JesseCoulter outfit posts from Instagram. Lots of selfies going on here people....I apologize, but you do what you have to do to get that outfit photo ; ). 
 
**Attention!** It would be a crime if I don't tell you about my favorite jeans. The Mid-Rise Super Skinny Rockstar Jeans from Old Navy are AMAZING! They are skinny in the calf so they tuck easily in to boots. They are stretchy yet firm so they hold everything in. I love where they hit on my waistline which is right at my belly button, and the spandex makes them extremely comfortable. I could wear them all day, every day. The best part....they are affordable! Their regular price is $34.95, but Old Navy runs a sale constantly (today they are 25% off, so they would only cost you a little over $26).
 
True Story: I was raving about these jeans to my co-workers, and told them they must grab a pair. Some replied I was skinny, and they didn't think the jeans would look good on them. I told them not to worry, and to try them out. Sure enough, a week later we were all wearing the same jeans!

Love at First Sight

I fell in love with this Express skirt months and months ago, and have been patiently waiting for it to go on major sale.  I gave up on it a while back, but the other day I happened to stop in Express to look for some work clothes when I spotted it on the clearance rack.  Of course they were out of my size, and I almost cried to an employee. I was walking out of the store when I thought..."Heck, let me just try on a different size and hope for the best." Well, sure enough, it fit! A bit snug...the type of snug where eating a full meal and sitting hurts, but I will make it work. I don't dress up too often, even on a girls night, so I thought the only occasion I'll have to wear it is a wedding. One of my friends from college got married this past weekend, and thankfully it was warm enough to wear this outfit.  I did feel my look was not fall appropriate and a tad out of my comfort zone with the skin showing, but I took the risk.  I bought the top last minute at Forever 21 for $5!

Dress Up Jean Skirt

It's a rare occasion when Alex dislikes an outfit I where, or at least comments out loud about not liking it.  This skirt....well, he didn't want to be seen with me in public wearing it ; ) I don't know what it is with him and jean material, but this skirt and my overalls are his least favorite items I own. I wore this to brunch on Sunday after Turner's party.  I slept in while everyone went to church, and I threw this on in attempt to "dress up".  I feel like I'm channeling my inner Jen in this outfit (I just love her style).

Transitioning to Fall

I'm the first one to say that I dislike the cold...I mean anything below 65 degrees (I love the Texas heat). I really....really don't want it to get cold. I'm having a tough time transitiong to a fall wardrobe, part of that is due to the fact I don't have a large bobudget to buy ots, coats, etc. (we're saving as much as possible to pay off the last bit of our student loans) . I joke that my capsule wardrobe is NOT shopping, and it's pretty true. I'll be keeping it simple this season.

California Casual

Alex and I are back from our California trip, and are so happy to back with Turner! A few months prior to the trip Alex said we should only take carry-ons.  My initial reaction was "Are you crazy!?" 6 days with unfamiliar weather and only a carry-on?  Thankfully, he convinced me and it was definitely the right choice.  I packed the following; 

- 6 shirts
- 2 casual dresses
- 2 scarves
- 2 jackets
- 3 pairs of jeans
- 1 small purse
- 3 pairs of shoes

It was a bit tough packing because I wasn't sure of the weather, and I didn't know how dressy or casual we would be at night.  Most days I wore jeans and sneakers since we walked almost all day, and my scarves saved my life (the wind was frigid).  Here's my outfit I wore on the plane and the first day in the city.

Night Out with Design Lab

I was invited by my friend Rebecca to attend the grand opening Austin's newest designer boutique, Design Lab. The boutique features a variety of items from jewelry and kids clothing to menswear and women's apparel all created by Texas based designers. I was able to meet the designers of each collection, and fell in love with Daniel Esquivel's collection (Project Runway Season 11 contestant). Design Lab is located near Austin's scenic restaurant, the Oasis on Lake Travis. 

It felt really great to get dressed up, and actually put on a dress. This dress had been sitting in my closet since last years TX Blogger Conference. I snagged it for free at the swap, and haven't had the chance to wear it.

Simple Stripes

As a full time working mom, I'm always looking for comfy clothes that can be dressed up or down.  I spotted this dress at Kohl's on sale for $30, and knew it would be perfect to dress up for work or dress down for a casual weekend (comfy enough to wear while chasing Turner). I went casual here and wore sandals, but I could easily put on a pair of heels and wear it out for date night.

After Work Style

Everyday after I get off of work, I come home and throw on a pair of blue jean or work out shorts, a sports bra, and a comfy tee.  For the next 3 hours I'll be playing with Turner (mostly outside and it is HOT here). I bought these metallic silver Birkenstocks about a month ago in anticipation for our upcoming trip to California.  I was looking for a casual yet comfy walking shoe, and these are perfect. They have formed to my feet, and I wear them every day after I get home.  I think my style may be getting too casual, because last weekend I wore them on our date night with friends.  I just never want to take them off.  Do you have a pair? If so, what do you think?

Sensible Swap

I originally wanted this Jcrew shirt, but $60 wasn't in my budget.  I went by Jcrew to try it on for size just to see, and I found this chambray shirt on sale for $20. Great success (in Borat accent)! I'm trying my hardest to not by anything new before our trip to San Francisco, that way I can save $ to buy something unique from a cute boutique in San Fran. Well, I also can't shop because our A/C went out,  we're in mid bathroom remodel, and Alex's car is having issues. Praying nothing else goes wrong in the next month.

Simple Summer Style

Meet the softest tank you will ever wear. You can dress it up like I did here, or wear jeans and converse with it and it would be just as cute.  I'm a sucker for simple tops and neutrals, and periodically I have to stop myself from buying so much gray.
