Abilene Weekend

This weekend we traveled north to Abilene to celebrate my best friend, Sierra, and her first baby, Luke.  We arrived on Thursday, so I was able to hit up some of my favorite Abilene antique stores on Friday.  I bought a beautiful wooden globe ($15) for Turner's future big boy room, a beautiful southwestern rug for my brother ($8), and a wooden chess board ($5) also for Turner's room.  I walked away from many beautiful items...so hard to do.  You can't find items like these in Austin priced so low.

$42 - Vintage tea/bar cart
$25 - This would be cute for a neutral nursery
$60 - I'm thinking about doing a mirror wall in one of our rooms.
$10 - Would love to spray paint this and use it for a little girl's nursery
$25 - Hand embroidered clock. Such a unique item.
$25 - Large mirrors (amazing price for the size)
$125 - Absolutely stunning peacock quilt

Saturday, we celebrated baby Luke, who is due March 13!  Turner can't wait to meet his new best friend.  I enjoyed catching up with friends from college.

Sunday, it started to snow/sleet early in the morning so we headed back to Austin early to beat the dangerous roads (it was 80 degrees on Saturday) . Once we arrived home, we all took a much needed 2 hour nap (Turner was extremely fussy all weekend due to two new little teeth).  All in all it was a relaxing and fun weekend with friends.  Next time I'm in Abilene, it will be to meet Mr. Luke!

1st Father's Day

Abilene, sweet Abilene.  I love every trip we take there. Great friends, great memories.  This past weekend we stayed w/our favorite couple at their new home.  It's such a blessing seeing your friends reach another goal in life; buying a home, having a baby, finding a job of their dreams, etc. We celebrated their new home by hitting up some estate sales and antique shops. We found an awesome coffee table for their new living room for $30, and I thrifted an antique breyer horse ($10) and a beautiful horse painting ($5).  Saturday night, we went to my friend Hope's going away party. So great introducing Mr. T to all of our friends. Sunday was a special day as we celebrated Alex's first Father's day.  His one request was to eat lunch at a japanese steakhouse, and pretty much do nothing the entire day. Unfortunately, we had to drive back to Austin with full bellies and tired eyes.  Thankfully Turner slept through the entire 3 1/2 hour ride home.

Hope you were able to celebrate Father's Day with your loved ones!

Yo, who wants to party?
Dad, I'm not done!

Long Live Abilene

Alex, Turner and I took a quick trip to our favorite little town of Abilene this weekend to see our best friends, Sierra & Grant, graduate with their Masters degrees! So proud of their hard work, and excited for their future. I see big things in store for them.  Maybe next year Turner will have a little buddy to play with?

Had to post this : )

I couldn't help but think while we were in Abilene that 1 year ago I was walking across the same stage receiving my MBA degree, and the next day we packed up everything and moved to Austin.  Alex and I were so excited for the next steps in our lives, and look how far we have come. I never would have thought we would be back one year later with a little boy. I've never been happier in my life. I'm blessed with amazing friends, a wonderful husband, and a healthy son. Thank you Lord for your abundant blessings. I hope I never take them for granted.

Labor Free Weekend

What a refreshing three day weekend. Alex and I took a trip up to Abilene to visit our favorite couple, Sierra & Grant, as well as our college buddies we've been missing.  It was the most relaxing 3 days I've had in a long time.

We ate and shopped entirely way too much. I of course didn't buy any clothes, but Bath & Body Works was having a candle sale. Buying fall candles might be more exciting to me than buying clothes. Leaves and Spiced Pumpkin candles to make our apartment feel like fall!

Thank you Greenwood's for the labor day weekend slumber party!

Cinco De Mayo

This past weekend Alex and I were finally able to take a trip back to Abilene! It was the first time I'd visited since I graduated in December.  I was able to celebrate Cinco De Mayo with friends, and visit my old church (man...I seriously miss it).  Alex and I stayed with our best buds, Sierra and Grant. It's always fun when we get together, because we can laugh and joke about marriage.  I miss the relaxed atmosphere of a small town and no traffic!

Pedicure w/Sierra....they wrapped these crazy hot washcloths around our calves.
Goofy looking but felt amazing!

Tried the Necklace test to see if we could get a hint on the gender.
Got a boy one time, and a girl the next.

Enjoyed some Republic Tequila Margaritas (I sadly had to decline)

Primary

Tear, tear. I took these pictures of Hope a couple of weeks ago when I still lived in Abilene, and I miss the daily inspiration Hope gives me when it comes to styling.   I'm in love with this bold/primary color outfit, and her over-the-knee boots pull every outfit together.

Happy Friday! Alex and I are off to north texas to visit family for a late Christmas celebration.

Blazer: H&M. Top: Jcrew Factory. Skirt: Forever 21. Boots: Chinese Laundry via Nordstrom.

Vintage Dress

Oh, this dress.  I saw this colorful dress on the mannequin and instantly fell in love.  The collar, textured material, and pleated skirt are my favorite parts. I already miss my favorite antique and thrift stores in Abilene.  When I came out of the closet wearing this, Alex just started laughing and said, "What the heck are you wearing? You are crazy." Well thank you, I take that as a compliment. Now I just need to get the old lady smell out.

Next Chapter

I officially graduated with my MBA from HSU last Saturday, and it was a perfect weekend.  I celebrated with friends on Friday, graduated and celebrated with family on Saturday as well as packed the Uhaul, and started our trip to Austin at 7am on Sunday.  Thanks to strong men we had everything moved in by 12:30 that afternoon which felt amazing.  Here's to a week of no school and no work! What am I going to do with all this free time? Sleep, work out, unpack, decorate, and get ready for Christmas!
